How come The Giants are playing on a half finished pitch right now?It looks great where it is finished, but it's cutting up quite badly where it is not.I really hope it's all finished and ready for next Saturday!
I'm not against The Giants, but why play on a pitch that is not ready?
New Pitch

Apparantly, the Giants don't have a home game now until September...
I hope this isn't going to turn into a farce.

Who was the clown that said Rugby does less harm to the pitch than football?

Next time your busy schedule, Cricket, Sons footy and wifey allow you time off TC and you are able to watch Town live at the stadium ! ask one of the groundsmen on duty.
Your obviously going to be surprised by his answer.

Not at all Brycey, and don't you worry Brycey I'll see more than my fair of live football this season, including Town and almost certainly more than you.
Brycey, I asked the best person of all and he says Rugby ruins football pitches. Raymond Chappell.
I'll tell you why now Brycey:
Rugby pitches always have long grass. This is mainly to protect the surface of the pitch from taking a hammering. It's also to vision the players falls.
When rugby is played on a football pitch the grass does not have time to be allowed to grow to the usual "rugby length", therefore the pitch takes a hammering.
It's not rocket science.

Your wrong Cryer,
I take it the old groundsman was talking about pitch damage when the rugby was played at the same time as football, During the winter.
Your right Cryer its not rocket science, Its rural science.

Brycey, this is not rocket science either.
Summer Rugby played on a Football pitch is not played on a bone hard pitch with no give in it.
The pitch is constantly watered to promote grass growth. The playing surface has give in it and during a rugby match shoulders, knees and elbows and shoulders tear lumps out of the surface.
It's not rural science, it's just common sense.

We are talking about a proffesional playing surface here TC not a bouncy castle, Studs and Blades in particular are what cause the damage, cutting the surface.
I will agree in an ideal world the cut grass length differs for each code, But it is a shared stadium, The Shay and Belle Vue always seem in good fettle, Indeed neither the Shay and in particular Belle Vue suffer from our biggest nemesis, Shadow, The Silly high roof we have casts much of the playing surface in shadows for long periods of the day therefore stopping natural sunlight ! The damned banana roof eh ? Aesthetically pleasing but a damned useless design white elephant, Poor in bad weather, Poor in bright sunlight and poor in retaining the atmosphere, But bloody good at casting huge shadows throughout the day all over the pitch.

Agree with you about shadow Brycey but I don't tjink our ground should suffer too much in that respect, unlike Newcastle, Old Trafford and other grounds that have had to experiment with glass roofs.
I suppose that's why the Don Valley stadium pitch is so good. Not much shadow.
