DAVID BECKHAM is in line to make a sensational move to team up with his former England boss Sven Goran Eriksson at Leicester City
The club are growing in reputation in the Far East and Raksriaksorn is prepared to fund Beckham’s £200,000-a-week wages for six weeks in the new year to help elevate their status and to advance their title quest.
Raksriaksorn believes Eriksson has the persuasive powers to convince the former Manchester United and Real Madrid star that a move on loan to the Championship would be mutually beneficial.
From a spokesman.
“This time the Raksriaksorn family are going all out to get Sven to bring Beckham to Leicester. Even they have been overwhelmed at how big Leicester have become here in Asia."
“They are keen to maintain the momentum and, of course, grow the club.
“Sven is in touch with Beckham, the funding is in place and they hope a deal can be done that will suit both parties. It will be good for everyone."

Id absolutely love this. It sounds a lot, but its only 6 weeks and would re-pay itself with ease.

I assumed this was a jollity, until I opened the attachments.
No no no. This isn't proper football, it's show business. If we are struggling in January, one ageing star isn't going to mend it. If we are doing as well by then as we all hope, Sven would have to be mad to mess about with the side.
Assuming the story is correct (we are talking about the Star, after all), this will be the first foolish move by our owners. I hope Beckham - whom I admire a lot - dismisses it quickly, as something which is not going to happen.

MallingFox you are spot on i think. It's just a publicity stunt surely to engage the Thai fans to our club by mentioning Beckham. They love him. The men idolise him, the women swoon.
It would increase interest in our club abroad but could upset the playing balance which wouldn't be good.

have to say it does seem a little like show business ,,
but ,its the boards money ,also would he actually play for us or would he come as a coach / motivator for the big push to the end of the season with the added spin off in far east shirt sales
the next question is how many of us would secretly like a leicester city shirt with
.......Beckham

In the 70s and 80s mags like Playboy would offer the biggest female film stars $1m to strip off for their readers, confident that these offers would be turned down flat. Lots of publicity at zero expense. Nothing to get wound up about here…
(PS: Isn't 'Pride Park' an offence under the Trade Descriptions Act?)

At the end of the day fellas, wouldn't you want him here? I would.

No, I honestly wouldn't.
It would be a massive distraction, in a season during which we have to be very focused indeed. If we don't get promoted, having flogged umpteen tee-shirts to kids in the Far East will be no solace.

That's that then. End of.
