Barry Smith has been sacked as manager of Dundee.
Did they really expect to do any better this season?
And for everyone harping on about an extended league, then this is what we will get- yet more poor sides, needn't I remind you that this woeful Dundee team took five goals off of Morton- the side currently leading the First Division.
Dundee Sack Barry Smith

I can't believe how much laughter Fundee have given me this year. The decision to sack Smith is the icing on the cake. They are 15 points adrift FFS What difference will it make now? They have cleary looked at the big team and realised how well it has worked for us. Here's the difference funsters, your biggest goal threat is Colin Nish

They were given, what 2 weeks notice that they were in the SPL. No surprise that they are miles off the pace.

I agree with this

They have been absolutely honking this season. I'm afraid to say they won't be missed when they inevitably go down.
Hoping Thistle pip Morton to the title.

I agree that Dundee were chucked in at the deep end, but it has been great for Arabs. Not only did we get rid of Rangers, but we have laughed at Dundee since August. To top it all they sack Smith when there is no hope left. Only Dundee FC. Best year ever

Dont pretend to know the ins and outs of Smiths historical record at Dundee but as he just got them promotion in what everyone says is a difficult division to win it seems a strange move to sack him based on SPL results.
Offcourse the circumstances were unusual but its not as if he had been allowed to spend sums building a squad ready for the SPL let alone the time to do so.
Considering the Morton result you would have to imagine they would be strong favourites to win promotion next season given that not only is Ross County absent but also the strongest side this season from the competition they faced last term.
On the face of it seems a strange decision but like I said dont really know his historical record etc regards best using the assets he has had available prior to this season.
