Spending VS. Bayern since 2005 (comparison)

So using the team that demolished us as a good comparison, based on the fact that in 05/06 both clubs were roughly at similar positions & squads, and both opted to move into expensive new stadiums at roughly the same time, here is an in-depth look of the transfers IN/OUT since then, and see what the difference is.

Bayern Munich - Allianz Arena (May 2005) - 71,000 seated - Cost = £340 million.

Transfer Spending since 2005:

12/13 - (IN) £62.8 million (OUT) £440K
11/12 - £38.8 million --------- £4.4 million
10/11 - £14.9 million ----------£8.3 million
09/10 - £65.7 million ----------£20.1 million
08/09 - £0-----------------------£9.6 million
07/08 - £77.6 million ----------£31.8 million
06/07 - £21.1 million ----------£2.2 million
05/06 - £9.8 million ----------£6.2 million

Total - IN :£290.7 million OUT : £82.6 million

-----------------------

Arsenal - The Emirates (May 2006) - 60,361 seated - Cost = £390 million.

Transfers since 2005:

Total - IN : £250.6 million OUT : £268.4 million

So we've been competitive with them on spending but it seems once we buy we sell straight away, why has Wenger allowed this for so long? Either come out and tell us the truth and criticize the board or just leave. His policy of nurturing young has more or less failed, his policy of sacking players over the age of 30 has back-fired embarrassingly, so much so he's had to cease his stubbornness & made a frantic U-turn.

His team selections, bringing in players, contract talks, and press conferences are becoming more & more bizarre. There is no excuse for Santos, Gervinho, Diaby, Arshavin, Chamakh, Djourou (rejecting a decent offer for him in the summer then sending him on loan?) Ramsey/Arteta as DM? He must take all responsibility.

I was once apart of the "In Wenger I Trust" brigade, but looking evaluating everything that's occurred, I'd be naive to carry on, still blind sailing on the high of "les invincibles" boat.

Even if we do get that 4th place "trophy", i think it is time Wenger honorably moved aside, head held high with another miracle Champions League qualification for us this season and be either apart of our future upstairs or retire.

Champions League qualification by end of the season will make us all happy, however Wenger must still also call it a day. It's time for the club to have a fresh breath of air and a face lift. We are not Man Utd, longevity hasn't worked so well for us, we need to adapt now.

I cannot see how anyone can defend the Frenchmen anymore.

Lets face it, Kroenke is a business man, not a sportsman! He only has interest in making a profit whilst keeping Arsenal marginally competitive to keep 4th place, so we can add to his purse

As long as he is in charge, we will not splurge money, we will continue to buy mediocre players and sell our best talent for profit!

Sad, long times ahead...

That table is a bit confusing. At first I was assuming it meant money IN and money OUT not players in and players out (the complete opposite) measured in £!

As Bayern share there stadium with 1860 i assume they put abit of money towards the stadium.

Just a quick question. Did Bayern pay for the Stadium or was it a handout from the Government?

Bayern (and 1860 Munich) paid for the stadium. The government paid for the infrastructure. (This, however, should not be construed as a subsidy for Bayern because providing the infrastructure is the task of the local government in Germany. Companies are not asked to pay for roads or subway stations that are needed to get customers to their premises.)
