Possesion football

Although I want Brendan to succeed as manager of Liverpool football club I for one am not totally convinced by his ideas of the club going forward. He wants to have Liverpool playing like Barca and Spain but i would prefer if Liverpool played counter attacking football like Real or Bayern. Although some of you will say that Barca play beautiful football to me it seems sometimes they are left found wanting. This is only my opinion so don't get all worked up about it. I would prefer Liverpool to be able to keep hold of the ball but be a bit more incisive than Barca are at time. Feel free to give a different opinion but keep it calm. Thanks

We have always had a great method at Liverpool, it's called pass and move. We should be striving to emulate that philosophy more than any other it's a simple game.

Bayern play possession football. Barce and Spain have both struggled the least in football recently. I'd rather be both than Madrid who have won 1 major trophy recently.

I don't think we keep the ball for the sake of it like Barca can do at times (although Spain do this more).

I think our style will ultimately be more like Dortmund than Barca.

Quick, high pressure football based on getting the ball back quickly, but not based on keeping it at the back unneccesarily.

Also, Barca have to keep the ball seemingly in a dull manner at times more as many of their opponents play a flat back 10.

This article is false. It suggests that we only have one method of attacking football. On the ground.
However, even the pundits yesterday said that we can and will mix it up if needs be.
The amount of goals we've scored/chances we've created that starts from a big kick forwards shows that we don't play one style.
Ad if anything, our method is more bayern and Madrids rather than barca. Barca just pass, whereas as we can play wide and smack on in from long

You have to understand that you don't score with every attack, which means that you're more likely to concede if you keep giving away the ball to opponents easily.

But if you play possession football your attack are measured and you have time to throw everyone forward

From an attacking point of view the only teams that have scored more than us (49) so far are Utd (62), Chelsea (55) and Arsenal (50).

I think it's fair to say therefore that we're a threat.

Defensively I think we have the will but not the skill, at the moment anyway. They often look panicked when passing it about which encourages teams to press us. Work in progress shall we say.

I think our style of play has changed slightly during the season. I think initially BR wanted to play the tippy tappy style but as we've gone on the football has become a little more direct. There seems to be more purpose and we're moving down the pitch quicker. There was nothign tippy tappy about yesterday, it was high temp, quite direct, quite slick.

I like that, means that BR is learning as we move forward and using systems best suited to the players he has.

all valid points lads....

but this close quarter passing in defence has put us in all sorts of problems .....

Yeah Bayern are the best possession side in Europe behind Barca. Or at least were under Heckynes.

To be fair a lot of last night was like it was 5/6 years ago. The noise, the tempo and the spirit.

I was proud and gutted.
