If you didn't suggest those terms, you never know.
If I was the board, the least I would have tried to get was some agreement for him to stay til Christmas, and if he wasn't happy then, then make him available for sale.

Your lot seem to be in this vicious circle of churn, where regardless of the quality of any incomings, the squad as a whole is not stable enough to proceed upwards from the previous point (swimming hard upstream just to stay still) .
