Amir Khan's next fight will be in the UK (Sheffield or Manchester) and likely to be against Julio Diaz.
What do we know about Diaz?
- He's Mexican
- Former lightweight world champion
- Age 33
- Now fights at 147 so is Khan moving up to 147 too?
- He's 5ft9 and Khan has always struggled with fighters his height (Peterson, Garcia and Prescott)
- He can clearly punch as he has K.O'd 29 out of 40 so will test the Khan chin.
- Last fight got an impressive draw against American hard hitting unbeaten Shawn Porter.
This fight is likely to happen at a catchweight of 144 and I think this will be a good test for Khan unlike his last opponent. Does this mean he will move to 147 after or is this guy a sort of preparation for the Danny Garcia rematch? I think it's preparation for Garcia as they have found an opponent of the same height as Garcia and can punch like Garcia.
If you believe the Khan camp the likes of JM Marquez, Bradley, Senchenko and Lopez all turned Khan down.

Lost a fair few of his last fights.
Khan needs to be put in with someone who can punch, to test his defence and to test him mentally.
I don't know much about Diaz, but he is obviously an opponent who can should be able to out box and use the defensive tactics he's supposed to be learning to good use.

I think we all know this fighter was arranged as a warm up to Garcia. Khan has had a few issues with fighters his height and there is no point taking on Garcia if you can't irradicate that problem.
Khan should win this fight with ease but he does have a good knock out ratio so won't be a forgone conclusion.

It's been reported as a catch weight fight at 143
