Where the Wolves Are .....????

Despite all our problems we are still above Wolves.
Its easy to see why Blues are not doing so well; no way out until ownership crisis is resolved, team made up with a lot of freebies and loans etc. but shouldn't Wolves have been cruising? Didn't they keep most of their team intact (obviously not a good thing it seems with hindsight), made a packet from Jarvis and Fletcher, should have been able to get good manager, re-invest in the team, parachute payments presumably?
But what a mess. As I don't follow their ins and outs can someone enlighten me on why they are in such a mess and where they stand financially? Personally I would like all midlands teams to do well and wish our owner would offer to fall on his sword like Morgan has.

We are ten points off the pace [for 6th], with one more game played and a much worse goal difference plus with ten teams between us and that outside chance with 36 points to play for putting us on 78 tops [unlikely I know] though Blackpool made it up on 70/6th place in 2010.
Any takers?
Am I living a pipe dream?
Am I becoming deluded?
Am I starting to sound like a viler fan?

I think you are living a pipe dream Killpage but you never know in this league. Look at Bolton now, they were on the same points as us last week.

I think we will get beat tomorrow, Hull look a good side and i can only remember us winning once up there in recent memory when Gary O'Conner scored the winner.

Two winnable home games next week though against Blackpool and Derby and if we were to win those two and other teams don't win who knows!

Bluepeter It boils down to poor players selected by poor managers at Wolves.
Financially though we look ok - we are expected to make a £6.5 mill. loss in this current year after 3 years of making a profit.
Just hope we stop falling when we hit League 1.

thanks for the answer PQV. Have there been a lot of injuries and was the Fletcher and Jarvis money banked or invested ? If so who was brought in?
I hope you don't, but if you go down and we get new owners that aren't bankrupt, any players worth going in for ?

83 I always thought our ambition this year was avoid the relegation scrap and get new owners. alright on first, nasty case of klingons on the second.

Not any real problems with injuries peter, I think most of our problems stem from the instability of a well meaning but trigger happy owner and the subsequent instability that brings. That and having a very poor midfield that creates virtually nothing.

Blues to their great credit have coped better with far more serious problems

Fair enough PQR very balanced comment. Every time we've hit real crisis we've had an injury epidemic that made it so.

We've suffered from that midfield dirth, which leads to hoofball misery (England have suffered from that too). Just watching classico on chinese tv - Barca team that have 10 man midfield. Chris Hughton cracked it back to a passing game and when we had a long unbeaten run under McCleish with no injuries we had that game and a joy to watch.

See the bbc did a big piece on this with a lot of opinions, which echoes your comments. Bad timing on the management and players like Roger J, who bled for us and had a real strong play with Scott Dann, going off the boil and losing it.

Changing managers quickly never seems to have worked for any team I can remember, but some keep doing it.

Hope Wolves can get a grip and us too as soon as Carson is history.

You also have to bear in mind that TPTB in football [or behind it] would happily see a reduced number of teams which would increase revenue for the lucky few. Same as US Football/Baseball/Basketball etc.
They would have no care if kids growing up in Wolverhampton or Birmingham had to choose between supporting a London Club or a NW England club because all of the ones in the Midlands went bust.
When you have 92 clubs of various sizes/revenues but each with the same power/vote of one, you can understand why the 'bigger' teams want greater say even if it is at the expense of teams like Portsmouth, Wolves, Blues etc going to the wall.
They could really care less about that, hence all the charlatans and crooks that have seeped into the game washing money these recent years.
Rant over, now onto my second cup of coffee...

Sadly, the Premier League is in essence the F.A. getting in to bed with a handfull of the most powerfull clubs.
The rest of us are dispensible.

That's the plan Wolfie.
Get rid of the 'unfashionable' teams' fans and have them supporting the powerful ones.
Even looking around the Prem and the upper half, the shame of it is even teams like Everton [probably] fall into that category, especially with illustrious neighbours such as L'pool.
No need to ask who TPTB would choose in that city.
You've also got two Manc clubs, both with pulling power and though one is United and the other advertises Etihad which, in Arabic, means United!
Both of them would be kept in the fold of course.
London is always going to attract a certain element of player/manager/fan so will always have teams 'protected' ie the likes of Fulham who, let's face it, if based outside the Smoke, would be as welcome as Wigan.
Probably within ten years we will have a two tier table of no more than 40 clubs and the rest will be mere mentions on a replica-kit website!
Hang on to your jerseys, they may be worth something in the years to come.
Hope Wolves pull their socks up and get themselves out of the rut they're in and here's to next season may we all be in the same division awaiting the fixture against the Vile!KRO
