Kos has had his bad moments to. All good going foward, poor defensively.

Mert scored a goal, won a lot of headers in defence, made several important interceptions etc.

The goals were not his fault.
For the first goal, he did well to step out when Bale made his run (which nobody could have kept up with anyway). Bale was kept onside by another defender (Vermaelen?).
For the second goal, Nacho or Vermaelen should have followed Lennon. Mertesacker did not much wrong there.
