Right, so Utd had Nani sent off for a high boot.
Now cast your minds back to the Chelsea Utd game where an identical challenge was made by Torres on Evans and pundits and Utd fans said that he should have been sent off for that. (as it transpired Torres got sent off for being tackled)
Now please dont get me wrong, i dont believe that Nani should have been sent off yesterday BUT the letter of the law says he should go.
The rules need changing on this IMO as it is getting to the point where you ar not allowed to get stuck in and challenge for the ball without fear of getting booked.
The thing i find strange is that Chelsea have suffered the dreaded CL referee b4lls up on several occasions and only once were we given even the slightest bit of sympathy (Barca 09)
We were also hevily critisised for players actions after the game.
Utd seem to be gatting backed from all angles and no critisism for the players behavior.
Why is this?
oh one more point, whoever said that Utds goal should not have counted because RVP was offside.... IT WAS AN OWN GOAL!
Some bullet points

The referee had to interpret Law 12
“Careless” means that the player has shown a lack of attention or consideration when making a challenge or that he acted without precaution.
• No further disciplinary sanction is needed if a foul is judged to be careless
“Reckless” means that the player has acted with complete disregard to the danger to, or consequences for, his opponent.
• A player who plays in a reckless manner must be cautioned
“Using excessive force” means that the player has far exceeded the necessary use of force and is in danger of injuring his opponent.
• A player who uses excessive force must be sent off

That is why I believe the red card was a mistake Blues, it seems to fit 'Reckless' a hell of a lot more than it does the latter.
Though at first glance, it must have been difficult to tell.

It wasn't Evans Torres caught, it was Cleverley!
Evans pulled Torres down later and Torres got wrongly sent off for a 2nd yellow for diving.
Utd fans said Torres should not have been on the pitch anyway as he should have been sent of for, essentially, what they are now saying Nani should not be sent off for!
A bit hypocritical yes, but nothing we haven't come to expect!
I done an article on it last night!

Do you have a link to a gif of the Torres incident, I can only vaguely remember it.

That makes it look worse than it was; if I remember rightly it caught his forearm

"a bit" what a mellow mood you are in today Brummie.
Personally Im delightful at this free bit of "bit" not to mention the most unjust chagrin suffered by Sir Alex.
Life can be so unfair. Tra la la...

Just based on the image alone, that does look at the very least 'reckless' Can't tell if he's gone in with 'excessive force' without it being a moving image.

Jay, it was reckless, but no more so than Nani. Two players going fo a high ball and being rapidly closed by an opposition player.
The result should have been the same for both - personaly, without the absence of malice, I would say yellow for both!
Tway - I must be getting a little laid back in my old age
