That most of the WUMing that's gone on on here today and last night after the game has been along the lines of
"It was a certain red."
or
"Real were the better team and deserved to win"?
Because I guarantee that every single United fan worldwide wishes those things were true instead of the current reality.
We were leading the tie before last night, and then took the lead on the night as well. We were well on our way into the quarter finals. We were running the game the way we wanted to and our game plan was working perfectly, attack quickly, press when they get in to our half and let them over stretch themselves. If the red card was justified, we'd all be a lot more content with what happened. Or if Real had really out played us in either game and deserved to go through, that would be a pill much more easily swallowed.
Crazy as well how the Jose Mourinho and La Marca can both say the Real were the second best team over two legs, and that United were more deserving of victory in the tie, but they're both wrong, as well as all the experts and referees who've commented to the situation.
Anyway, I just thought I'd pop on and say that, to anyone with the opinion that United were outplayed and that the red card was valid,
if only that were the case, because I'd be a lot happier man today if it were.
Does anyone else find it strange

What was the reaction to Ronaldo? At first when he came out he was cheered but when the game kicked off he seemed to be getting booed.
What was the deal big guy?

There are no rules about a keeper trying to punch a ball, they are allowed to do that. There is a rule about high tackles with studs showing though even though there may be no intent to harm.

And the rules are supposed to be yellow for being reckless, red for excessive force so not really to the letter of the law at all

Batmoanu. Those rules are meant to protect the player from injury? no.. Thus, Vidic could be injured seriously and maybe even fatally damaged. The rules are inconsistent and how are you exactly going to take a high ball down without studs? As a player would you go head first? really? Or would you do the Arsenal thing and simply let the other player run across you and set up a chance without even bothering to challenge the ball. Nani had no other logical option. He tried to do his job as an attacker and was punished. A red card should be for intent and a yellow for not being aware.

Ronnie got a good reception overall. Showed a lot of respect to the fans.

It's not a problem anyway. The game is done. we have been punished for trying to win the ball. Game over. Season goes on. we will finish on a high with at least one trophy and it will be known as an average season. That is our standards. Winning the league for our great club is an expectancy not a privilege. we'll be stronger next season and even more fired up. We have some things left to do though. One being insuring Arsenal don't get any champions league football next season. And 2 winning what is left.

you do realise keane is very bitter towards United now not many supporters like him much anymore! So it didnt suprise me he went against the norm. Put it this way, if he was on the pitch in his prime he would have decked the ref!

Keane actually has more reasons these days to criticise United than actually side with them...
That doesn't automatically make his opinion wrong but he is easily open to accusations of bias in the same way every single ex United player who doesn't think it was a red is...

his opinion is wrong, full stop! Never a red card and everyone knows it, shame the burke in the middle of the pitch didnt know it! And he called it from 50 yards away, sorry he wanted to make a name for him self and boy he did......pretty much the same as Keane. Cant stand the fact he was fooked off, cant stand the fact he has found managment harder than his rants suggested......great player and a total bitter priccckk of a person!
