If.........................

.................................................. there had been a 606 forum back in the late 1960's...................................

I speculate on some of the comments:

Mick Jones - carthorse, does not score enough. disgrace
Sniffer - lazy, all he does is score goals. shameful
Gray - self-indulgent dribbles that achieve nothing. Terrible
Lorimer - unfit fat boy, all he has is a shot
Giles - sc*m reject , nuff said
Bremner - dirty little short-a*se, annoys everyone and gets the refs against us
Cooper - failed winger, can't defend properly
Reaney - how many goals does she get, really? shameful lack of attacking ability in a fullback
Hunter - one footed, no class, hoofball merchant
Charlton - brother is a sc*m, nuff said
Sprake - complete liability, has made mistakes (unlike all other goalkeepers) ..............................

and, of course, that Jack Taylor was a good manager, the squad was coming along nicely and if he'd stayed we would.......(fill in your own choice of unlikely event)

Highland - don't think we'll have days like that again, as the game has changed so much (players joining at 16 for their whole careers was common then....) but lets hope we can see another top Leeds team play before I (for one) end up in that great Bates-built stadium in the sky

Surely you mean Bates built hotel?

I can remember thinking similar negative thoughts during the Eighties, then - rather unexpectedly - Wilkinson and O’Leary gave us a silver era to go alongside the Don’s golden one. Probably lulled me into a false sense of fantasy . . .

I don't want to seem petty, but i'm almost certain paper was invented in the sixties or it might have been the eighties. Difficult to say

You may well be right, Tony. As has already been explained, due to certain recreational habits common in that era, most of us don't remember it very well.

Paper was invited by the Chinese in 1223, just before the big green elephant thing swallowed the striped octopus colony. The sky was purple and the transatlantic aliens were excavating s’coom from the quarry later renamed Old Trafford (some things never change).

I can see it as if it were yesterday.
