I actually like him as a pundit. He actually gives very good opinions and clearly has a good understanding of the game. If you look at some of the pundits working for the BBC, there really are some terrible one's! The worst being Gareth Crooks. Now that is a clown. But Robbie gives good unbiased opinions and I feel maybe he is underrated as a pundit.
Do you agree?

"Since Speed died and he was speaking about him shortly afterwards in an interview on BBC(?) I've found it impossible to dislike him, thought it was a genuinely moving thing."
I felt the same, very emotional. I quite like Savage too, I have no problems with pundits saying what they genuinely feel. I have more of a problem when they try to sugar coat it

I think he's a pretty good pundit, not because he gives the best opinions, for him it's very much a mixed bag with what I agree on, but because he actually backs it up and engages in a debate with all the callers. In a way I'd say he's a bit like Rob, he has evidence to back up what he says, and whilst it might not always be the best defence for it it's well reasoned.
Compared to some pundits who just cut off callers when they make a good point, Savage is a very nice change.

I think savage is quality, need more like him, hes hilarious sometimes. Its the boring ones thay say the same things over and over that can fack off, shearer, lawro, southgate, theyre so so dull, they need a personality implant

Savage isn't an Aussie
Rob
I know what you mean Bubbly, they say the same thing, week in, week out. When you've got people like G Nev, and Savage, they actually look like they're enjoying what they're doing and tend not to spout clichéd tripe. A bit more animation while they're doing it, and not looking like they're reading a script is way better.

his view on the red card should have been max a yellow at worst was spot on. To be honest I don't think it should have been even a card, just a coming together. Ref made a name for himself and cost man utd.

I have always quite liked Savage, even before he retired from football he was always a character. Entertaining as a pundit as well!
