do you feel sorry for those players that show promise only to go to a team where they get given absolutely no chance what so ever and die a career death? Or do you think it serves themselves right?
Naive or stupid?
The main culprits are Chelsea and Manchester City. Often the funeral home of a players career the last few years but i'm trying to think of any cases like this with our club. Sure there have been high profile players that have come and flopped but that's not what i'm talking about. I mean a player like Scott Sinclair that was showing promise at a semi decent club then destroyed it all in one swoop fell. It didn't take a Mayan to predict that his chances would be limited to zero at City.
Anybody give me any United examples? Alan Smith strikes me as a player that was never made for United but even he had his chances.
A footballing death

Hleb and Song at Barca. Arshavin at Arsenal.

Not exactly what you're looking for, but I really liked Zhirkov a lot and was very excited to see what he could do. He was crippled by a number of things, his injuries, the form of Malouda and left after a couple of years having had no real chance, I guess that we could recoup the fee helped the decision but it made me sad.
Younger players, hmm. We haven't exactly produced any world beaters who slipped through our fingers the last 10 years. We've mainly bought players in their peak as well. I guess Sturridge rankles me, that he never played CF because of Fernando flipping Torres, that Carlo didn't give him his chance in his second season... I don't think he'll be a worldy but we could have definitely got goals out of him, and more money. And better performances!

How can you say Anderson, he's had loads of chances. Young has had plenty of game time too.

Right now we have Marin, who was already fairly crap when he arrived but was once a wonder kid. He's not getting any minutes. And Moses. He's a good player, but he's going to be a squad player for us unless he undergoes unprecedented levels of development. He will actually play though... Which is more than we can say for Marin

Sinclair has always been and will always be a mediocre, so I fail to see how City destroyed him.
