The 283* is the best for the 1st wicket for either country in India v Australia matches and the 10th best for any wicket.
The previous best for India for the 1st wicket was 192 - Gavaskar & Chauhan.

Massive task but he needs only 102 more runs for the highest ever test debut score. Do well to get it but what a target to go for. Great knock.

Fair play to the lad.
But if history shows this game to be drawn, which is always a high possibility on tracks like these, then it won't be remembered for much. That said great knock. Look forward to seeing how this guy does against better attacks
Also, this surely means the end of Sehwag. Good riddance

this wasnt just about fastest century or fastest 150. It was how he hit those runs with correct shots and without taking any risks.
Also he has opened the option for india, now tomorrow if dhawan still plays all the other batsman could be attackive and probably set it up well for the bowlers to win them on the last day.
Great knock regardless.

Amazing innings, when I turned it on I thought i was watching a highlights reel as every ball was getting put away and as others have said classy shots not slogging. really hope he carries on tomorrow and at least gets the double century.
But how poor is the Aussie spin bowling, Doherty is hopeless, its amazing that having arguably the greatest spinner ever in your side for years did not inspire some Aussie kid to follow in his footsteps, they look totally lost.

Absolutely stunning innings by Dhawan on his debut and still going.. Can't believe how some people talk about pitches on this website but ignore that India has majority of test matches in results rather than draw. Also very brief history that a day was lost to rain in this match where some folks happen to ignore that fact. That will be the main reason of draw but still a result is possible because of bashing by Dhawan of Aussies on his first test match. Can't believe the way he was playing and on the same pitch Clarke got out for O.. Lol!

Also the history of the last two matches were results on this type of pitches if people can understand simple scores/results..(2-0) India ahead in this short history lol..

neon he might just struggle, but that is what pitches away from home are meant to provide.
Its a great move. I can see abit of duncan flecher character coming in this indian team now. play youngsters.
