Rio pulls out of England

Ferdinand: "It's disappointing I won't be able to play in upcoming games but I told Roy that I want to continue to be available for England"

Roy Hodgson: "I'm disappointed Rio will not be available, but due to the detailed medical programme he must follow it's not possible...

Roy Hodgson says, despite withdrawal, Ferdinand England career is not over. 'I look forward to hopefully selecting him for squads in future'

Fair enough I guess.. Thoughts?

KotB

Read what Roy said

Maybe, just maybe, he does have a pre-determined regime that can't be altered.

I would bet my house that he's gutted

Jeez, when Rio was dropped so Terry could remain, everyone papped on about so he should be dropped.

Now he's picked, and can't play because of legit means, he's suddenly nailed

We all know he's the sort of guy the LOVES playing for England so I doubt he changed all of a sudden

Like I said, read what Roy has said

--------------------------------------

No. But if this is the case, does he not merit a 'free' tournament? He played a big part in England qualifying for WC2010, only for a big thick wardrobe to fall on his leg meaning he didn't play in the finals. He then helped England qualify for Euro 2012, only for him to be omitted because the vile John Terry racially abused his brother.

Jamie Carragher did it, so a precedent has been set

So predictable, Roy needs to end his international career if he can't be bothered to turn up. Sends a bad message if you're being given the runaround by a 34 year old has been. Yet again United players showing contempt for the national team.

I just knew that the nob-of -the-day award would go to an ABU on this thread and you have proved me right.
