Rio Ferdinand - Exposed

Well surprise, surprise, Rio has pulled out of International duty citing his 'pre-planned training regime' as an excuse for not linking up with the International squad. It's funny how he and his representatives couldn't stop banging on about the reasons (or lack of) for his exclusion from the national team, a decision that would make him so bitter that he would actually endorse racist jokes at the expense of his international colleagues.

Now all of a sudden he has been called up and he is no longer interested? Well I am going to go against the grain here and congratulate Rio. My respect for him has actually risen after this fiasco because there are too many players in the current set up who simply are not bothered about their country and are wasting their time, and everybody else's time by taking part in it.

So kudos to Rio for not wasting our time. We all know he couldn't be bothered and I don't see why Roy should now follow a 34 year old crock around like a sick puppy when there are far more young, talented ambitious defenders chomping at the bit to get a go with the 1st team.

My pick would be Steven Caulker who should never have been omitted for Rio in the first place

With the greatest respect, none of us are in a position to judge what is good, bad or indifferent for Rio.

It's not really a dodgy back, is it?

It's a situation that requires management if he is to continue playing top level sport.

Hardly walking onto the plane with a stick and limp, is he?!

I'd have had a lot more respect for Rio if he'd simply told Hodgson to go feck himself when he was called up

I thought that at first. The way Capello treated him with the captaincy and the Roy dumping him because of JT and then gobbing off on the tube, I was so wanting him to tell em to get fekked

I actually now respect the fact he still says he will be available in the future but this has come at too short notice given his set routines and obvious previous commitments. Let's face it, as far as Rio understood, his international career was over (as Roy mentioned on the tube) and everytime a reporter asked Roy about it, he wouldn't talk about it

Now though

I agree with you again after ll the garbage I've heared this week

Fek em Rio. Concentrate on where you're appreciated I say. 80+ caps and this is how they treat ya

But it does suggest to me that he has been persuaded by his boss to duck out of England and that he may not be as unfit as he claims.

He hasn't claimed to be unfit

But as I said, managing a flight in 1st class is not the same as managing training and games.
