Indeed he had a good last season, though I've never being a big fan of his. For me positioning is perhaps the most crucial quality for a center back, and always felt he was inept. I don't think his combative style suits our new system either.
I find it interesting this is also pointed in the stats:
"Skrtel doesn’t start and the team win% goes up to a very good 58% while the four-year loss% is almost halved to 17%. Points per game is a Champions-League-like 2.00."
Hopefully we can get a decent sum off him this summer. Good attitude, but was never Liverpool quality in my opinion, Agger needs a world class partner.

I think Skrtel is a top class player, but he has struggled with the way BR wants more than most. Not sure why, he's not that slow and technically not bad. His heart doesn't seem to be in it at the moment. Probably best he moves on.

That's a pretty revealing set of stats and clear evidence why Skrtel has been dumped from the team and is likely to be sold.
He is just too unreliable, despite appearing a beast when he has good games.

I actually think agger is more prone to a mistake that skrtl is
Agger is a composed defender on the ground but he is always been beaten in the air , and we have leaked goals from aerial positions all season

I am a huge fan of Skrtel.
Really sad he might leave I'd love to see him back at his best for LFC.

Last season was the only one where Skrtel really nailed the positional side of his game. His height, good leap, underrated mobility and the fact that he likes a battle took care of the rest; he was great in the air, he was difficult to beat on the ground, and his in-your-face style meant he won a lot of battles.
Before then, and particularly this season, his positioning has been poor, and it means his game goes to pieces. He still challenges for most things, meaning he over-commits or fouls a lot because he starts too far away from the attacker, or he gets caught too close and has to foul to avoid allowing his man in one-on-one.
IMO Steve Clarke had a big impact on his game, especially positionally, he was great when Clarke was here.
