Quick choice: WHO would you pick?

I was involved in the debate a couple of weeks ago. Prior to Theo Robinson being sent on loan to Huddersfield.

It may be a pointless poll, but interesting to see where we stand.

IF you had to keep (and start) one and get rid of the other, what would you do with Conor Sammon and Theo Robinson?

For the purposes of this debate, they are both on the same wage and either would leave for nothing based on your decision.

Theo? or Sammon? and why?

I totally agree Mostyn. I know I have said this before but if you STUDY him he is often very lazy. When we have the ball in midfield they are looking for an option/outlet. He meandres sideways, crab-like, and never makes runs, points, shows for the ball or even wants it! It's that which infuriates me most of all .

He often hides in the game and offers nothing. He cannot control it, head it, picks the wrong pass (panics), cannot shoot or finish or even tackle.

The closer he gets to goal the worse he gets.

Anything Clough points out is purely to try and cover his back knowing he has bought an expensive mule. That's also why he won't drop him or sub him off.

Do you not rate him Baz?

Vidal

You think I thought Baz was writing a motivational speech for the lad.

Does my flucking head in!

He then gets some plaudits for actually, and very occasionally, performing a small aspect of his JOB 'well'

i.e running around like a headless chicken and closing defenders down

Sammon

Some of the criticism given to him applies more to Theo. All he really brings to the table is pace, you'd never see him go in for a header like Martin did. He contributed to our better season last year, though. But I think that bit of success went to his head. It was Theo who asked for a meeting about his lack of first team football rather than fight for a place.

I also never believed the paper rumours about PL interest nor should the manager be blamed when we never even received a formal bid. Indeed, I think the club would have accepted a decent bid of £500k, let alone £2m!

How this poster ^^^^^^^^^has not won the yearly award is beyond me.

Sammon.

Theo is unfortunately a dead-end. All he's got is pace. His touch didn't improve over two seasons, and nor did his reading of the game. Though his goals per game is OK, his goals per chances is less so.

Sammon is potentially different. His main job isn't scoring himself, it's creating the opportunity for team-mates to score.

So for me the problem is he doesn't have a regular partner.

I wonder how highly I would have rated John O'Hare if Zak was never signed, and Brian had played 4-5-1 for half his matches?

So, in summary, Sammon's signing cannot be called a sucess so far, but I think its too early to call 'failure'.

The start of next season will be crucial. If he's still made no impact by Christmas then the writing will be on the wall.

I'll close by reminding you all that Hulse seemed a big mistake in the season he signed-up, but came good the season afterwards.

Lets give the guy a chance!

(but lets not let him take penos any more)
