Sir Alex couldn't get this lot to a major tournament
We can keep going through manager after manager but until we change our entire football mentality then we'll keep falling further and further behind. Our players are atrocious footballers, even Wales are MILES ahead of us, FECKIN WALES
We need to implement a decent infrastructure of youth football and teach them how to play properly. Then actually give the young guys a chance! How many of the Wales players tonight were under 25 and get regular first team starts at their clubs? Get these hammer throwers out of the SPL teams and start playing talented, exciting players. Stop moaning about inexperience and play them in the international friendlies, THAT'S WHAT THEY'RE FOR!
Can't believe we got DOMINATED at home by feckin Wales

Agree with most posts here, our kick and rush mentality is holding us back. That and picking donkeys who consistently underperform.
Even Wales (no disrespect intended, but Scotland in the past have consistently out-qualified and probably had better squads than Wales) are passing us of the park nowadays. How are they doing it? TECHNIQUE, BALL RETENTION. This is what proper teams do!!!!
Good teams hold on to the ball for several minutes at a time and don't necessarily look to get the ball forward at all opportunities. For some reason our players (and fans; part of the problem) seem to think they have to attack as quickly as possible every time they get the ball. You don't see this from Barcelona, Man Utd, Bayern Munich. Good sides know that holding on to the ball dominates the opposition and keeps you in control. You then form an attacking move when the time is right.
At all levels we need more patience, composure and willingness to see things through.
How long are going to watch average Eastern European sides, traditional minnows etc come to OUR stadium and pass us off the park before a light bulb goes off and we change something???
This can't really be changed unfortunately with the currently team as they simply don't have the ability (beyond 1 or 2 players) to play passing football in an organised manner. You put a bit of pressure on our defence and you can guarantee a misplaced pass. Caldwell being the main culprit.
Which brings me to my next point. Why are players like Gary Caldwell, Scott Brown, Charlie Adam and Kenny Miller getting anywhere near international football. They have such limited ability it is painful to watch. None of them can make 10/10 20 yard passes, that's not good enough at this level. You simply CANNOT give the ball away or you will be punished. Watch how often Spain, Holland, France, Germany, Italy etc give the ball away; they certainly don't do it in their own half very often.
One positive thing to come out of last night is that we are finally starting to see that regardless of the manager the PLAYERS are to blame. Maybe some of those who were so vitriolic towards Levein will start to realise the real culprits.
Unless we start changing how football is played at all levels in Scotland we will be lucky to win another international game against anyone better than the Faroes etc never mind actually qualifying for something.
It has nothing to do with league structure either. You can have 10 teams or 100 teams in you're top division but if none of the teams can play decent football or are willing to nurture young talent you will get nowhere.
We have to get our refs to stamp out the overly physical side of our game as well. Start refereeing games like a European ref, punish every aggressive challenge. Make the focus on playing the game not stopping the other team from the playing the game.
