Didn't surprise me, mick was a success but generally organised and risk averse which was one of his issues for me in terms of taking a chance with more fluid players.

I thought it was strange that we let him go when he had just started playing well for us.

He says in the article that he broke the contract, I wonder if he paid Wolves a fee to leave?

Amazing to think that he never once played in his actual position despite being a Wolves player for the best part of 4 years.

Saying that, the best performances in his career were as a defensive midfielder according to the Bible of Wikipedia.

_________

I can sort of understand not wanting to risk ball-playing defenders in a relegation battle, but McCarthy did take the old fashioned approach to something of an extreme.

I think Ronald thinks he is better than he is. There is a video on you tube of all the howlers he made as a centre back for Marseille.

And of course he had offers from Premier League clubs and turned them down to go and play in Corsica. You would wouldn't you

It depends what they were offering him Crikey

We did play him as a Centre Half HaaK. He played there in the infamous 10 changes at OT during our first season in the Prem. He was awful and gave away a deliberate hand-ball penalty.

Zubar's no loss as far as I'm concerned.

NO better than what we have left and a lot more expensive per week = a no brainer

Did we? Didn't realise that Cyp. Still, 1 game in 3.5 seasons in his actual position... hardly gave him a chance to get a good run going.

I'm not saying we shouldn't have got rid, I didn't really rate him. Just symptomatic of how Wolves seem to like putting players in the wrong position.

Really he was another Guideora...all hype & hope whose brilliant moments were too few & far between. He was occassionally amazing going forward.

...& all he had to do was cut out the mistakes
