Fascinating discussion on 693 tonight about the desperate situation at Some of our clubs.
Jack Straw of Blackburn Rovers stating that the Indian owners seemed to believe they were buying effectively a franchise and not realising the Club is an integral part of the community. They clearly haven't a clue what they're doing and they're dragging Blackburn down.
Coventry are homeless and are in dire straits and could even be docked 20 points which would put them perilously close to the relegation zone.
Portsmouth ..... God knows!
The day the foreigners bought Derby I said "I just don't get it". I still don't!
I even fear for our friends in Nottingham.
As true football fans we all feel a real passion for our clubs.
Surely someone has to stop wealthy foreigners ripping our clubs, and therefore our communities, to shreds and treating them like their 'plaything'?
Foreign owners

Yes - probably for the best, that, 4zA. Those gulls can be menaces. I thought people usually puncture the eggs to stop them hatching in the first place, so surprised there a specific 'Gulls Hospital'

Having seen a short programme last night about al Farwaz il Wasabi and Billy Davies I am not worried about him deserting Forest. His wealth looks both unlimited and genuine. It certainly set Billy grinning like demented hyena.
But the most interesting aspect was that Farwaz loves the memory of Brian Clough. Well - it's not pushing credibility too far to foresee that IF wee Billy falters - and IF Nigel does relatively well - its is just possible to see Nigel in charge of Forest in the next year or two.

Most foreign owners do a bit of homework on the franchises they buy to try to appear more genuine to the fans. I doubt al-Hasawi would have heard of Brian Clough before buying Forest any more than any of us would know too much about what happened in a foreign league forty years ago. It doesn't mean that, having come this far, he won't want to be successful, but there is a transparent falseness about such people (I of course include our own dear owners in this) which really grates. As Simon says they have no real understanding of the history of the game in this country, and particularly of the nature of the supporters and how the club sits in relation to its community. Because of this it tends to be an uneasy alliance between owner and fan with a low threshold for unhappiness on one or either side.
Why do such people pursue football club ownership in another country? We like to believe that it is because they harbour a deep and previously dormant love and passion for our club, that they feel as we do, but of course this is nonsense - they are either after a profit or an ego trip, or both, and to hear them trumpeting about history makes me want to gag, to be honest. They must think we are stupid, and sometimes they are right, of course.

I've never known a rich owner go to such lengths to 'prove' his so-called wealth.
Amazing that a fancy rented gaffe and a lock-up full of stolen sports cars can pull the wool over so many people's eyes!
Has nobody wondered why Natalie is the only 'journalist' the club will talk too?
Sickly, wishy-washy nonsense

The biggest thing to come out of the Forest owners plea for friendship is his wife's nervousness that they remain continuously successful. She seems scared stiff of failure. Her bloke must of been a nightmare to live with over Christmas, so much so that she calls Billy a blessing from god.
Al-thickwit is clearly unhinged and that could bring the whole saga to a quick end.

King Billy a gift from God......oh don't you wish you had one!
