For the past 10-15 years Scotland managers have persisted in the 4-5-1
Formation regardless of the players playing.
Strachan played roughly same formation as levein.
Different players played last night from fri but same formation and same outcome.
Where has this got us? Feckin no where.
All that happens is we sit deep and allow teams to build from the back. All we try and do is try to contain games instead of going out and trying to win.
We go a goal down then......, nothing no plan B carry on with the formation hoping something may happen.
In any sport the teams/individual s who play to win are succsessful, the teams who just play to avoid defeat will never get anywhere

I think it comes down to team selection.

If the players are average or poor (which Scotlands are) then it matters not a jot.

exactly Duke, some of the best sides in the world play 4-5-1
our pool of talent is woeful at the minute. when te likes of james mcarthur seem to be first picks at the minute you know we have a real problem

Of course systems matter. We play 451 regardless of who is playing.
Jordan Rhodes is not a lone striker but asked to play there just to fit into a system.
Kenny miller has been given grief for years because of some of his performance s but again playing as a lone striker is not his strength.
All that happens is we end up sitting to deep and let teams attack us.
We deserve everything we get for the negativity
