Couldn't sleep last night so was flicking through the channels and found the England v Argentina game from the 98 world cup. Forgot what a great game it was. That really was a cracking England team. Shearer in his prime, a young, fit, quick owen, Campbell and adams, even a fit Darren Anderton. Even for Argentina, Veron at his best, Ortega, Ayala. I really don't rememeber it as being a cracker. I was only 11 and Scottish so not really a stand out game for me. But if anyones in the same boat, don't really rememeber it then i reccomend you see when it's next on. Cracking game of football from England. Even Batty and Ince played well. Well as a proud Scot that has pained me to say.

Yeah thats the little things you remember but it was a truly great game. The way England defended at 10 men and the way Argentina pressed. I actually enjoyed it.

The whole road heard us celebrate Sols "winner". Elation to devastation! At least Dennis gave us some sort of revenge.

Yeh 98 was a bitter sweet tournament. We played some great football but yet again the cheating Argies ruined it for us. Simeone's pathetic play acting and Batistuta throwing himself around in tackles and when getting tackled was equally frustrating.

I cannot ever remember celebrating another teams goal as much as when Bergkamp scored that epic goal to send the Argies home - good times!

Ever watched the Dutch broadcast version on Youtube? Worth it. The commentary still sends a little shiver of excitment.
"Frank de Boer passes the ball up field... bought down by Dennis Bergkamp... Dennis Bergkamp flicks the ball on... DENNIS BERGKAMP DENNIS BERGKAMP DENNIS BERGKAMP DENNIS BERGKAMP... AAAAAARRRRRRGGGGHHHHH..."
