The magic of Best and Hungary, the pain of Rangers and El Salvador... As minnows San Marino suffer again, we remember some other famous thrashings.
It hasn't been a very good 2013 so far for the minnows, with Swansea's thumping 5-0 win over Bradford in February's Capital One Cup final followed last week by another thrashing for San Marino at the hands of England in their World Cup qualifier.
In light of these one-sided contests, the latest in our Golden Years series takes a look through the archives to remember some other famous thrashings. They include the magical Magyars at Wembley, Real Madrid at Hampden Park, a record-breaking performance from George Best and some infamous World Cup matches. There's also an FA Cup final from more than a century ago to kick you off, the day El Salvador let in 10 goals and a miserable afternoon for Sir Alex Ferguson.
If these pictures bring back any particular memories for you, we'd love to hear your thoughts at the bottom of this article.
