Dennis Knight

Reds sign free agent Knight on a contract to end of season. 19 yr old midfielder released by Newcastle earlier this season without making a senior appearance, been on trial at Hartlepool but couldn't agree a contract, apparently goes into squad for Saturday.

Seems a bit of a strange signing?

He's been signed for the development squad. Like the other young players we have, they are being developed for the future. This is a necessary stage between the academy and the first team. Most 19 and 20 year olds are not ready for the Championship.

Take no notice of the BBC saying he goes straight into the squad. After all, this is the same organisation which reports that Matt Done will be making his 100th (or whatever) appearance in every single pre-match amble...he's been at Hibs for months!!

I trust in Flicker's judgement...if he thinks the squad is good enough, then fair-do's, although I can't help feeling we still need a left wing-back to replace Golbourne and a solid centre-half but hey, that's why I'm a teacher and not a football manager

'A future' I think you'll find is being away from Oakwell as fast as possible ....just like most of the real talent does thanks to the short sighted suits upstairs in the board room .
