Tonight Shamrock Rovers play host to FC Copenhagen in the second leg of their Champions League Qualifying tie.
Copenhagen have a slender 1-0 lead going into this match. But the fact that Rovers failed to score away from home means they will need to win by at least 2-0 in order to qualify or failing that a penalty shoot out if its 1-0 to Rovers on the night after extra-time.
This is a massive match for Shamrock Rovers. If they win this they will be gauranteed qualification for the Europa League Group stages.
Obviously Copenhagen are strong favourites to progress but if Rovers can go ahead early on its game on!!
Come on Da Rovers!!

Sadly, Rovers performance last night proved that League of Ireland clubs are still not good enough to make the giant step forward and qualify for the group stages of the Champions or Europa league.
Simply put for all their endeavour and heart they were beaten over two legs by a better side

They were soundly beaten by a technically superior side, but it could and should have been closer than the 2-0 scoreline, if only they had better delivery in the final third of the pitch.
Was very frustrating watching rovers work really hard to get ball in good areas only for the cross into the box to be too underhit or too long.
Will be interesting to see how Rovers get in the Europa playoff anyway, there's some allstar names in that draw.

Hopefully they can get a decent draw in the next round and with a bit of luck Sligo can join them. Getting a 0-0 out in Ukraine was some result but they're in a similar position to Shamrock Rovers in that conceding the 1st (away) goal could nearly kill the tie. St Pats would obviously need a minor miracle.

I think Sligo have a much better chance tonight at home to ukrainian opposition, but we will see!
Hopefully, Sligo either get a household name like Spurs or Lazio, or someone like Ekransas from Lithuania, whom they'd have a fighting chance against.

If Rangers are knocked out by Malmo tonight (1-0 down from 1st leg at home so its looking likely) will they be included in the Europa League play-off as well.
I'd love to see Rovers have a crack at Rangers
