Sagna is offski...?

That's the word on the street. I keep my ear to the ground and my eyes on the bournville boulevard.

Now let's be honest with each other here, I hate lies. Bacary has not had his best season, has he? I'm of the mind he is STILL a great player and has been one of the best rightbacks in the Prem for the last few years.

His dip in form may well be an amalgamation of some fairly serious and unfortunate injuries. But I also believe he's lacking in motivation and this has been decisive in the player not being as switched on as we've become accustomed!

PSG are keen as French mustard, they've got a big, throbbing veiny hard on for Bacary and I think the financial incentive might twist the players and AFC's respective arms.

I am a big Jenkinson fan, but I'm a tad dubious he's at a level to step into Bacary's size 8's over an entire season? Meaning a new rightback might be on the menu, and if that is the case I honestly hope he's tasty!

What do you guys think? Should Sagna be allowed to move on and if so, should Arsenal give Jenkinson his mantle, or would Wenger be a wiser man to get a more experienced, sexy righback to come into the fold?

ANSWER ME!

Van der wiel is average whenever I have seen him play, I think jenkinson can be first choice by next season easily. We have bellerin coming through, he looks excellent. I think going for somebody more experienced is our best option.

I think Sagna basically has now and the end of the season to convince Wenger whether to keep him or not. Ability-wise we know he's up to it but he seems to be lacking in motivation.

Keep Sagna for one more year. This will give Jenko time to grow into the position and make it his own. In the meantime give Bellerin a run in the cups to introduce him to first team footie. That's how I would do it myself.

I'd most definitely be inclined to agree with you.

However, my understanding is that Sagna has one year left on his contract, starting this summer and is incredibly unlikely to renew it. Add to that ARSENAL'S STANCE ON OFFERING CONTRACTS TO PLAYERS OVER 30...

In short, IF the good folk at PSG are ready to show us some sausage and pay a fair wedge for Sagna, mayber, just maybe, it's a scenario in which all parties benefit.

Bel;lerin does look one Hell of a prospect, but I do believe that we need to be realistic with regards to his legitimacy at being at a level where he'll be in and around the first team.

As I've said, very earnestly, Jenkinson is a player I like and he excites me on many levels and creamy layers. But realistically, knowing just how Arsenal rely on their fullbacks, especially to be the catalysts of attacking moves, I'd be inclined to go for a more experienced rightback.

Completely agree with you but the problem is replacing Sagna with an experienced player would be totally unfair to Jenko who has done enough to stake a claim in the starting line up. But then again, even Gibbs are having a fair bit of healthy competition with Nacho.

Exactly! Healthy competition is paramount within a team to be successful.

Wenger's belief, faith and support to some of the younger players over the years has been admirable, but often a flawed logic.

As you rightly cite the Monreal/Gibbs scenario as a great example.

Having certain starters and lack of competition has fostered a culture of complacency in the team. It even translates to the team as a whole. You can even see it in the way they approach games with their foot completely off the gas thinking they had already won. On the other hand, we don't really have the resources to have 2 quality players in every position.

that would be the perfect way to do it

If we get a suitable offer than sell him IMO. The whole reason we are having this discussion is because there have been too many times this season that Sagna has not been good enough and his injury record is starting to rival Diaby's. Time to move on but do not sign a stop gap replacement but somebody who is good enough to be in our our first team now and in years to come and if Jenkinson is good enough then he will get the game time his ability deserves.

Becoming more and more likely Sagna will leave for possibly PSG in the summer. Jenks & with Bellerin coming through. Enough experience? Hmm
