Shadows of The Empire N64

This was the 2nd game I got for my 64 after completing Mario 64 (the greatest game of all time).

I remember it was an awesome game to play at the time and as a standalone Star Wars Story was great. It looked great and the soundtrack was sublime with classic John Williams tunes mixed in with new stuff from a fantastic original soundtrack exclusively for the game by Joel McNeely. The game overall has dated quite badly down the years but after going back to it recently it's overall atmosphere is still fantastic. You just get sucked right in.

Some of the levels, especially level 5 Gall Spaceport is epic, when you go looking for Boba Fett goes on forever and is rock hard. Some of the bosses were tough as nails too.

Now that Disney run the show I can't think of a better standalone adventure that could be adapted than Shadows. Not sure what they'll do for the next Trilogy but this game has movie all over it. It's set between Empire and Jedi too so it's bang in the right moment for me.

I miss my old 64 days.
