The Telegraph

Busy this morning introducing their new columnist - Kelvin MacKenzie.

Christ on a crisp, how the man can be employed by any media outlet that pretends to be remotely serious about itself is beyond me.

Needless to say, I won't be visiting their site any more.

Is this for real? Surly nobody would employ that stain on humanity?

As someone who thinks that quality of newspapers is declining in this country one of the very few newspapers I still regularly read is the Telegraph. However atm I am not sure I am going to continue, recently they introduced a Murdoch esc rule that you can only read 20 online articles in a month before you have to pay a subscription fee. In a way some might say fair enough but then again the point of a free online paper is that it is easily accessible meaning that the paper can offer its services to a wider and larger audience. Besides the financial profit comes from the advertisements that the papers allow, a subscription fee will only bring in a minimal amount of money compared it this, its greedy and unnecessary; that's what irks me. Now it appears that the vile toerag MacKenzie is going to be employed by a paper which has recently slammed Murdoch's empire, the lies about Hillsborough, the tabloid culture and as the OP says claims to be a serious paper. Clearly hypocrisy is no longer just confined to the news outlets such as the BBC. I am fully in favor of free speech but I am also in favor of getting what you deserve in life and moral values. MacKenzie clearly has no moral values and also he clearly does not deserve a nice well paid columnists job. Now its not up to me to say the who and who can and who cant the Telegraph employ but do they really have to stoop so low? Sadly this may well just be reflective of how far the media in general has fallen.
