If you were in Nasri's shoes what would you do? As his contract is running out he is in a position of relative power. You could take the view that he is looking out for the best deal going money-wise, or maybe his appraisal of the situation is that his chances of winning something are greater elsewhere.
I don't think you can believe a thing anyone says in football anymore. Look at Tevez. He says he wants away from City to be nearer his family in Argentina but then when the Corinthians deal falls through he's still considering a move to Italy.
Given that, I guess one approach is to ask yourself what would I do in that position? (Well, given that we are all fans of the clubs we support and are therefore biased, we would all go with our hearts - but if we can put that to one side for a moment.). Honestly, I'd be thinking of moving on too but would be feeling bad about not being loyal. So, waiting for a year is a win-win position for Nasri: if Arsenal improve and win something, sign a new contract; whereas if it's same old, same old, then you sign a bumper deal with another club who are more likely to win. Any dissonance caused by feelings of guilt would be assuaged by the bank balance. Let's face it most of us are influenced by money, and all work places are relative in terms of pay - football is no different.
So, Nasri: mercenary or not?

at the end of the day tevez is a money grabber. Can you blame him? Yes you can. Like the OP said he only wanted to move due to his family, now he will go to Italy. This chap is a lot closer to his agent Kia than you would think..they aim for the most money possible.

Tevez isn't that bothered about his family, as soon as Argentina went out of the Copa America he went off on holiday to Sardinia with his mates.
