Bonjour!
looking through the articles recently and there is an air of positivity around!!! Which is fantastic!!
It got me thinking after reading messages about the Premier League, it being referred to as the "Promise Land" etc.
Now dont get me wrong, i really want to see us get promoted, especially via the playoffs, as its very exciting to be part of, something i tell my Man U fans that they have never experienced. However, apart from the obvious drawbacks of being in the championship - less coverage, less quality, Manish Bhasin, Barnsley on tuesday night etc. i actually prefer being a competitive team in the championship than the "hoping we finish 17th" brigade in the Prem. This season has had its ups and downs, and i dont think i have yet seen us absolutely dominate a team.
How does everybody else feel - i would prefer a hybrid of the Prem and the Championship, is nice to play Newcastle away, and be able to attract good players, but its also nice to have the "humbleness" of the championship, and the competitiveness. I think Gartside may of been on to something with the 2 tiered premier league. Its a very socialistic idea of spreading the wealth, but as its stands now, there are 2 world class teams in the prem, 2 regular champions leaguers, and then 2 champions league hopefuls. The rest are, get to 40 points lot!
Premier League!

What would you rather have, a dramatic but ultimately dissapointing 3 seasons in the championship or a relegation sandwiched between two promotions? It's hard to say, but not much is as exciting as going up.

If we do go up we must not chase it spending daft money trying to compete like we have been doing.if we go up then we should be looking to wipe £10m a season off the debt. It can be done Swansea have today announced a profit of £15.9m for the 6 months up to the end of Nov 2012.if we stay down we will lose players.will get next to nothing for Alonso, our main asset is out long term which leaves ngog, eagles and Lee as players who we will potentially sell.however I am confident in df that he will sign good enough replacements and get us promoted next season.

Benny I agree with your comments but DFs job will be made much harder if we fail to go up. Will we even keep him.

Can't see a premier league team coming in for df at the moment but if he does well next season he will be linked with every job that comes up.maybe QPR would come in for him if harry jumps ship when they go down.

Not now but it's clear how much he has improved us for Coyle and what he setup at Palace speaks volumes!

I agree its a funny one lads,we are nowhere near PL class but we were not on our other promotions.
I still think we are not playing that well despite our recent great points haul. But lets be honest I cant think of a stand out team in this league, there is a lot of carp about lets be honest.
So lets have a pop at this, get promoted and hope DFs scouting network can do a Swansea, Norwich and Southampton etc and pull a few rabbits out of the hat and survive then lets build again.

Nuns I firmly believe in DF we have finally unearthed a bit of a gem.

Cravies glad your happy with DF,me I am still a little undecided.Yes we look fitter and more organised and we have a nice little run be it against some rubbish sides.
Yes he inherited a badly managed side with what I consider poor striking options, but hey that's not his fault is it?.
Still think this squad would need major surgery should we sneak up,as they would not be good enough.
But lets kick on beat Bristol City, but as Benny says Leicester is the big one for us although their run in is probably more difficult than most.
PS Its is just nice to say I agree with Benny on here without being subjected to juvenile rants from a certain someone.

Catch 22 ...Teams (including us) need to be in the prem for the money; but you need to hit the ground running when you go up, and that involves spending a large chunk of it ........ At the moment, there aren't any Championship teams that look capable of ' cuttin' it ' in the Prem (including us). So .... is the money all important ..even if it's just to grab a season's worth of it, then do a ' Derby ', and hope the extra parachute money gives you another crack at it the following season?
