Much was made of the violence at this fixture, resulting in a number of arrests. A great deal of speculation occurred in regard to which set of fans were responsible.

Well after extensive police investigations charges have now been issued.

All those charged are from Sunderland or nearby areas of the North East, none from London or the South East.

Sorry, I shouldn't have put this on the Sunderland board as well, as I can see how you think it's me having a dig.

Wasn't my intention, more a reply to fans of other London clubs who pick up stories like this involving West Ham and crowd trouble and assume we are always 100% responsible.

Just because in this case it would seem Sunderland fans were mainly to blame I doubt overall your fans are no better or worse than any other teams.

Yeah Gordon,

Every time there is a trouble at West Ham the media and the rest always blame West Ham fans. Look at the Chelsea game, if that idiot John Terry didn't do bend over dances in front of the away fans then those coin throwing incidents wouldn't have happened. It doesn't mean i am backing few idiots though.

I took my boy upto Sunderland 2 seasons ago,we were in a pub before the game and the makems were as good as gold
