68 Games so far this season...

Presuming we do not go any further in both cup's semi finals, we will end up playing 68 games in one season.

I wonder what the actual record is? In the earlier days when we had more teams in the league, it would have been high of course. I'd imagine the likes of Liverpool and Man Utd have had high numbers. Anyone know the record?

Factually it is easy to prove with research though I don't know the answer. I remember Leeds playing loads of games in 1970 and winning nothing and in those days there was no squad rotation which I think has to be factored in.

Depends on what you count as games, but I think it was more like 60
38 league
CL = 2 qualifiers + 6 Group + QF, SF, F = 11
FA = About 8
LC = 2 or 3.

They also played Community Shield, but did not have Super Cup or World Championship to play.

I am thinking Barca in one of the years they played in the World Club Championship. Sure they reached 70.

Hats off to Arsenal then as in the 70s they didn't have squad depth like we do now. Although they didn't loan out 20 players either!

Also remember more recently the old format of the Champions League, had two rounds of groups to qualify from. Not sure if that was more or less games in today's format?

More in the two league, unless you have to qualify like Liverpool,when they won it,
