A nice morbid question for a Monday afternoon - if we go down ... and I can't see any possible way that we won't, like the previous season we're not just losing almost every game, we look totally devoid of ideas and the teams around us are picking up unexpected wins left right and centre ... How long will it take is to get back to the same position as we seemed to be in in September 2011?
We won our first two games, we looked great, it was our third year in the Prem and we'd made a couple of signings that looked like we were really pushing on. We had the centre-back we'd all wanted for so long and a midfielder that had lost his way a little but had looked very good indeed just a few years earlier. We were investing in infrastructure, we had no debt, we were building for the future and many of us felt that was the year we were going to really kick on.
The rest of course is history but how long will it take us to get back there?
Obviously the minimum could be maybe three years if we got two promotions and then did the prem somewhat differently. I think it will be much, much longer than this. That said, money is king in football and we do have money, those with money tend to rise to the top so I am going to guess at two years for League one, three for the Championship, and another three in the prem before we start to feel secure again, IF we could stay up for three, this is because I still don't think we'd do anything differently next time.
I think that this could be considerably longer if Morgan decides to try and sell since we could have two years of disruption just from him looking to sell, and even then we'd be more likely to end up with a Venky than a sheikh.
All I can think about is how much this sets us back in so many diferent ways - we may have one of the best training facilities in the country...but we're a national joke, who is going to come to a club as tainted as we are. It could take us years to get rid of the image as fickle, manager-sacking, own-player-turning, infighting, double-relegation losers.
Right, must dash, I need to go and get some rope.
How long?

Well this is where we disagree a little, in my opinion Mick can be held accountable for the very feeble squad inherited by Stale.
As for Stale and his transfer kitty, im not sure where i stand on it to be honest, if these players had all played and just been generally dreadful, or Stale had chosen to let them rot then i would fully agree with you.
But many of them have been sidelined through injuries, so i find it a little harder to blame him for that.
For me he tried to change to much to soon tactically, something i know you agree with, either way i can never support sacking any manager after such a short space of time.

But can anybody blame a prime minister for the state of the nation - who left office 25 years ago?
Hypocrisy.

I don't recall anyone giving Morgan 2 choices. Where did you hear that from?

You always have the option of coming down the road and switching allegiance to a well run, profitable club sitting in 8th place in the top flight of English footy -you know it makes sense !

Yeovil, Stevenage, Hartlepool - might be a nice day out !
How long have Leeds Utd been out of the top flight - 10/15 years ? And they are a big club (or think they are).

Circles boggieman, circles
as for your suggestion, probably more chance of he'll freezing over than wolves fans filling the empty seats your own fans don't really want

I've seen us play at Hartlepool before bog person - and as it's the Wolves I go to see it will be no more a problem now than it was then

Cinci I don’t think Stale was left with a particularly weak squad and “feeble” is massively over the top. In fact the players he inherited would, in my opinion, have been enough to see us into the top half if utilised properly. Add £12m to replace those he lost and to strengthen where necessary and a top six finish (as you and I discussed) was entirely feasible.
