Seeing as neither of our clubs have had much success recently I thought it would be a good idea if we had a thread where we could discuss our glorious past, something the likes of Chelsea lack.

This Mr Chelsea has got to be one of the most ridiculed posters on here.
I'm guessing he might disappear again soon after this mauling.

mr chelsea, what you say is a fair enough. I wouldn't turn my nose at that sort of money either. It wasn't so long ago that we were calling for a rich sheikh to get us out of our dire situation.
The money invested in your team has given you trophies, more worldwide exposure etc etc but the problem I see for you is that you'll have to keep investing. Drogba, Anelka, Terry, Lampard, Cole are all over 30. Essien is injured again. These players are the spine of your team. I don't know much about your youth system but from what I do know I don't see that many youth players who are going to really step up. McEachran looks good and so does Sturridge. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. So that means you'll have to keep buying to build a new team, spending more money that you haven't earned. I see that as a problem. Any other business run that way would go under. I remember Kenyon saying about seven years ago that you'll be making money in 5 years. That hasn't happened and I don't see it happening any time soon either.
If, for example Abramovich was to have a boating accident tomorrow, that's it, bye bye Chelsea, because your current model isn't sustainable. But that wouldn't happen to Arsenal or Liverpool because we're not spending more than we're making. Even though Man Utd have debt it won't happen to them either because they are such an established brand they will always be bought. Would someone else be willing to spend £600-700m for Chelsea with a 43,000 seater stadium. I'm not sure they would. The oil barons and oligarchs didn't want to touch us and we're in a similar boat to your re. debt and small stadium.
This is of course my opinion only. I'm no financial expert and I'm sure that Chelsea have it in hand, but this is what it looks like to an outsider.
At the end of the day most of us are only winding you up about Chelsea's spending, as you do to us about our history. The PL has become more competetive since Chelsea and Man City splashed the cash. As a Liverpool fan I was getting tired of Man Utd's domination. If we can't win it then anybody but united will do me.
