...for next season. It might sound a little bit far fetched, but after a season and a half I don't think that Bogdan is going to develop like the club originally thought, but at the same time I don't think we should sell him. Now with Ali Al Habsi being backup keeper at Wigan, maybe we should explore the possibility of a season long loan with a view to permanent signing at the end of next season.
Whats your thoughts?
What about getting Ali Al Habsi back?

He was dropped due to a bit of poor form and Roberto likes the look of this young spanish lad they have on loan.
I'd bring him back in a shot.

I wouldn't have sold him to begin with BUT nor would I have him back now.
My reasoning is the same as always when asked about former players returning for a second spell. It very rarely if ever works for them or the club concerned and the same holds true of managers too which is why I'd say no if Big Sam offered to come back tomorrow.
Sorry but Ali is yesterday and the club needs to think about tomorrow. Adam's not a bad keeper, just not as good as JJ in his prime but then who is? Also Adam's cause isn't helped much by the defence in front of him. I'd give Adam a little slack and sign some better defenders before we can really judge how far he's developed or not.

Most error prone keeper in the PL.
I wouldnt touch him.
Also, Bogdan shot to save % was better than his and Jussi' last season.
Bogdan isnt as good as either in their prime, but he is better now...and if he improved his confidence in commanding his area..he could be a very good keeper.

Martinez rested several players - Al Habsi, McArthur and Di Santo - for the cup game at Everton.
The team turned in a tremendous performance, and Martinez has kept the same starting eleven for league games. But he did recall Al Habsi in goal for the semi-final against Millwall.
Wigan have signed Robles on six months loan from Atletico Madrid. He has been playing well - and has great distribution.
Wigan have since been linked to Real Madrid goalkeeper Antonio Adan.

Fever if Al Habsi wanted to come back, even if Wigan wanted to sell, and even if we were all agreed Bogdan is useless, you won't find Freedman signing a PL player at or around the peak of their career. It's not the way he operates in the market.

On the topic of bringing former players back, as we know Dougie tried to bring Dioufy in on the last day of the window. If we dont go up this season would you have him back? I know he doesnt fit with Dougies ethos of promoting youth, but I do think we will still need a couple of players with experience to help bring the youngsters on. Another former player I wouldnt mind seeing back would be Kevin Nolan. I know he is still first team at WHU but next season could be a struggle, especially if they are to kick on. With SKD leaving, we lack leadership and Nolan certainly has that in his locker. He has added goals to his game, especially at this level and with questions over Holden and Mavies fitness, and with us losing Spearing we may need midfield reinforcements. Just a thought

If we don't go up this season, Nolan's wages will be beyond what we want to pay, and he would still attract a sizable fee. I realise he played for West Ham when they were in the Championship, but they took a massive financial gamble on promotion in one attempt - I don't think we're in a position to do that.
Similarly to my previous post, Freedman doesn't sign players of this type, around 30 years old and on top wages.

Re signing all habsi would be a case of shutting the barn door well after the horse has bolted 2 years ago when some bright spark thought it would be a good idea to sell him to our relegation rivals.

Martinez was happy to recall Al Habsi for the semi final, but has played Robles in subsequent league matches.
