Afternoon all.
Just been catching up with some videos on my break and it got me thinking, sometimes you just see players you instantly like for whatever reason, it could be the potential you think they have or just the way they play.
In terms of Spurs there's some obvious ones that everyone will agree on but there will be players who divide opinion. Berbatov you could tell would be a hit straight away, remember him scoring a goal at Besiktas, that was the moment it hit me that we had a top notch striker in our hands. Benny has his moments, I'll be the first to admit, but when he has the ball, running backwards and being pressured into his own corner by the right winger, I never ever get worried once, he always manages to come away with the ball somehow, just something I've noticed.
I haven't been more excited about a signing than Lloris, I was ecstatic when it happened. Caulker is also someone I kept an eye on in his loan spells. He made a couple of mistakes to gift Arsenal 2 penalties in the 2010/11 season but other than that he stood out and you could tell those mistakes were down to inexperience, I have high hopes for him.
When it comes to other teams:
Arjen Robben. Still love him now, I think he could have been so much better than he has turned out to be. That season when Chelsea had black goal nets, he was ripping teams to shreds.
Ashley Young. Might sound surprising, I hate his diving and everything else that comes with him but when he cuts inside onto his right foot, not many players can bend a cross in with the pace, curl and accuracy that he can. Really flourished at Villa with Carew.
Kolarov for City, not the most reliable left back but if city tried him on the wing I think he could be a better player, such a ferocious shot on him and some of the goals he's scored have been magnificent.
Im sure theres more but that's off the top of my head. Everyone will have their own players who they like for their own reasons, who's yours?
Players you like, just because?

Great article
I've always loved Beckham. I get why others aren't a fan of his, but the way he played for England. Whilst he had limitations as a player, his free kicks and crosses were absolute magic.
Always had a soft spot for Damien Duff - just like the way he plays.
For us - Steffen Iversen. Never REALLY did it for us, but I remember one preseason he scored goals aplenty, was given the no 10 shirt (got it on my back) and was just willing him to do well and always stood up for him. Made me follow Norway too. Him, Flo and Ole Gunnar up front.

Flashy - sounds just like me! I absolutely loved Iversen, despite him never really doing it on the pitch. When he did score I would be happy for days!
These were in the days of Spurs Monthly, before the internet took over, and the reporting in there would make average spurs players sounds like the best in the world

Henrik Larsson - A selfless player that always made the game look easy. He proved himself at Barcellona and is one of those players I wish had been in the Premiership earlier. The amount of time he spent at Celtic was incredible and makes me wonder what else he could have achieved if he had been elsewhere.

I always like Henry too. I love that interview where it's not long after Fabregas started
"was it a penalty"
"say yes"
"yes"

Teddy...
I fell in love with his very first touch for spurs... He just took sooo much care of the football. He feet just loved and cherished that inflatable ball of leather

Teddy for me too. Even when he went to ManU and won Champions League I was really happy for him.
He was also a great header of the ball - real accuracy and delicate touch to find the corner of the net and with power too when necessary. Strangely enough Bale's heading ability reminds me a bit of Teddy - I think it's an underrated aspect of his game.
