I'm not too sure about this competition arguement. Sure, it's nice to have it, but as a goalkeeper, is it really necessary? You should be doing your utmost to save shots/make decisions anyway, I don't think having a better keeper on the bench would make you better at these things.

It works for the outfield players, because they MUST have 100% concentration.

Sorry, but your argument doesn't really make any sense. Every player should be doing their utmost to get everything right, but focus can drop and mistakes can happen. I would say if you weren't feeling you had to prove yourself every game then that would be more likely to happen, whatever your position.

Besides, it's probably less about the way you are approaching games and more about how much work you put in in training to try to improve your weak areas. If you're the only 'keeper then where's the obvious motivation to stay after class to practice your long shot-stopping or goal kicks?

Didn't see today's game so can't really comment on Szczesny's performance but I do prefer him to Fabianski. Fabianski always has that mistake in him which doesn't fill me with any confidence in him.

Mignolet is better than both of them, and if we are in a market for a new GK this summer he would be a good signing. Impresses me everytime I watch him.

Really? I don't remember any heart-in-my-mouth moments from him. Distribution was ok, not terrible.
