Why Has This Been Allowed to Happen?

3 days to the first game and we are 1 or 2 injuries from fielding youth team players out wide and up front..

I'm sure Megson had his transfer targets and for whatever reason hasn't been able to bring them in but he must've assumed not all of them would come in any event - has he no other ideas? Apart from bringing in obscure strikers on trial..

Obviously everyone knows we need players and it's a tired point; just not sure why we got rid of so many players before we had any idea if we could replace them; offering O'Connor a new deal whilst letting Teale go seems laughable to me now.

You weren't laughing when you were telling us off for having a go at the re-signing of JoC.

Palmer has taken Teale's place in the squad seemingly, which is fine by me. Teale was toss, just because we kept one bad player, doesn't mean we should have kept anther.

Never wanted us to re-sign O'Connor - just saying that now he's here don't see the sense or value in getting on his case and making out he's the worst footballer ever.

I guess the fact we let Miller go beause of wages (wasn't really bothered at the time but he did get 9 goals last season) and offered reduced wages to those we did resign shows what the idea is under MM. Trying to go up on the cheap and I can't see it working.

Loads of them were penalties, he was average and expensive

Yeah I know; just saying it's telling we let him go. He was captain towards the end of last season when we were playing a bit better so Megson thought something about him, whereas JOC wasn't a regular and gets a new deal..

Tautological, I'd disagree with trying to go up on the cheap. SWFC were in the top 3 wage payers last season in League 1 and then signed a load more in Jan. I bet even with the thread bear squad we have now were only a couple of signings from being the top payers again.

Miller was very expensive for what we got out of him. His goals were all penalties and other than that he contributed to a very poor midfield that finished in the bottom half of league 1!

I agree regarding Miller's ability or lack thereof - just suggesting that maybe Megson would've kept him given how he played him a lot towards end of last season and maybe couldn't due to wage restrictions.

You're probably right about the wage bill but I don't see why we shouldn't be the top payers. We'll get 20,000+ a week this season if we do well.

No one wants us spending money we don't have but haggling over £100k or so for a striker seems ridiculous when we've made money on sales so far this season. Yes, we spent money in January but those players are now part of the squad and it's still not good enough - more are needed.
