When he was on loan here he was brilliant. Scoring goals and all round playing brilliantly. We then paid 3M for him. At the time it looked a little much but still it was a good deal. Looking back now he looks massively overpriced. Why do people think Waggy hasnt lived up to expectations.
The pricetag, when he first came here we didnt have much expectations for him, he wasnt the main man when on loan with Fryatt ahead of him or do you think he just isnt good enough or he isnt managed properly
I think when he was on loan he was unproven and he was going out every game trying to show people what he can do. Now wit h a great first season and a massive price tag he thinks things will just happen for him. Then he got dropped and has to prove himself to Sven so he tries too hard and ends up running around like a headless chicken
I think he could have a big part to play next season and i hope Sven doesnt sell him
What do you think

I think it's just the change is style of play - It was the same with a number of players and is why Fryatt has re-discovered his scoring touch with Pearson at Hull and why Jack Hobbs is all of a sudden dependable again.
Some of the players that did well last season have struggled with the new fluid football - I watched them against Rotherham in pre-season and posted on BBC 606 then that decent sides would put a few past us in the coming season and was proved right.
Sad to say if Waggy can't adapt his game to suit then he is either left on the bench as plan B or moved out

At the time I was wondering what the hell Mandaric was doing.
Yes he was a bit of a fans favourite, but 3m for someone who isn;t going to get 20+ goals a season is ridiculous.
We're looking to get Maynard for 2m and Yakubu for the same price!
I like Waggy, but I wouldn't have paid more than 1m for him.

In my opinion, the way Sousa started last season, a lot of fans were getting on the clubs back, and he was bought by mandaric to please the fans and try and restore a bit of faith. Hope he still has time to be a success!

Less game time, out of form when the new manager arrived so fell out of favour, much more expectation.
I hadn't even heard of him when he came off the bench against Swansea, didn't even know we'd signed him. When he took to the field against Coventry in September, everyone was saying he's going to single handedly win us promotion.
It's obvious the lad's felt the pressure, he's been desperate to prove himself everytime he's come off the bench. He's not had the luxury of playing with freedom like a regular starter has. Which is why it upsets me that Yakubu plays like he'll never be dropped.
Completely disagree with the point that the style of play doesn't suit him, I've seen no evidence of this whatsoever.

He hasn't played because he's a Pearson type of player, not a Sven type of player. He works very hard and runs around a lot and he certainly has the ability to inject some urgency into our performances, but Waggy possesses all the poise and composure of a bull in a china shop. With the style we play his touch and passing simply aren't up to scratch and when he does get involved in the build up he regularly just ends up giving the ball away with a poor touch or blasting it into row z rather than getting his head up and trying to spot a pass.
It's no coincidence that most of his goals last season came from him winning aimless long balls or picking up on knock-downs in the box from Howard et al - he got into goalscoring positions by using his pace and strength and just leathered it goalwards. He's a good striker for a team that likes to adopt a direct and physical approach, but I'm not sure that he can really adapt to the way we now play.
I'd love to be proven wrong but let's face it Sousa never wanted Waggy he just wasn't his sort of player - it was Mandaric who bought him because he wanted the fans' approval and to get it he was prepared to pay well over the odds. He never fit into Sousa's system and Sven has largely maintained that since he took over. Waggy's a good player and I like him but I'm not sure that he's right for us or, equally importantly, that we're right for him anymore. I can see him moving on this summer to be honest.

I have to agree with the comments about him being signed for the wrong reasons. I can't see Top deciding who Sven should sign. If he does move on then fair play to him and good luck wherever he goes (except Derby!!!)

I've said many times that I thought he was overrated by our fans when he came on loan. £2m was too much let alone £3m. He really is a player that could go either way.
Having said that I wouldn't want to give up on him yet. The reason he was I think he was overpriced is exactly because he's got potential, but far from the finished product. If the potential were to go in the right direction, then, well you never know.
We've paid the money now so we may as well keep him and, if necessary, send him out on loan. If he doesn't deliver then move him on at the end of next season.

I'd like him to be fit, focussed and involved in our pre-season games. Earn a place, be it from the off or a few games in, with a regular partner and supply from the midfield........then i'm sure the confidence and goals will follow.
He must know it's a make or break season here for him so i hope Sven keeps him here and that he repays that dependence in him.
The 2m fee, rising to 3m was to get a very promising talent at this club and not someone elses, aswell as to appease the fans. Sunderland knew we had money as they tried the same with Marton Fulop.

Verdicts out but I believe ALL Leicester fans wish this guy would turn good.
Potential is there for him to be a success and I would hope it would be for us fighting for a place with some real goalscorers next season.
