Like all united fans i'm dreading the day SAF calls it a day at the helm of man utd. However, im resigned to accepting this is a real possibility in the next 3/4 years. I stumbled on this article (http://www.championsleaguetalk.com/who-is-going-to-replace-sir-alex-ferguson-at-manchester-united/1146) which basically reviews some of the candidates for the job. The article isn't very thorough and repeats many of the arguments already heard but it at least gets you thinking into whos available and able to take the job when the unthinkable finally does happen.
Personally, I'd go for mourinho. Not only is he highly able as a manager domestically and in europe but I also think he'll stay with united for a while. He's an anglophile and has spoken highly of united in the past. If he takes the job i reckon he'll stay for 10 years before taking the portugal job which he's stated he's wanted. He isn't as disloyal as people think. Porto to chelsea was a natural step up. He was pushed out of chelsea even though i reckon he was planning to stay for longer. Inter and italy wasn't for him, and well real is real and he can't be expected to stay there for long. In addition, I think he's one of the managers that can achieve short and long-term success much like SAF. He was an instant hit at chelsea but at the same time built a squad that is still challenging for trophies 5 years on.

I think you are right with Mourinho. If he joined us he would stay for a long time i think. However the two points about him is his style of play and his very minimal work with youngsters and turning into very good/great players

what a rubbish article the attachment is.
So, it's either Mourinho, Moyles or O'Neil, then?
I can only see it being Mourinho because there are no other obvious serious candidates.

Wouldn't want the special one, not Uniteds style of footie plus when it gets tough he will do one.
Moyes is a fantastic man manager, what could he do if he had some financial backing?

As I pointed out the attatchment isn't great and has faults however it does list possible candidates, who else do you suppose has a credible chance then?
I wouldn't mind moyes tbh as he might provide long-term success. However, would you be willing give him time as I don't think he'll gurantee short-term success, especially in europe where moyes has a poor record.

Aren't you being a bit pessimistic thinking that 70 year old Fergie may retire in 3 or 4 years time? The life expectancy of a male in the UK is now 77 years.
How about Terry Christian as a replacement?

Wasn't it confirmed by his "mate" on tv he was retiring in 3 years?
