The Filly Factor

Has anybody seen this ridiculous competition for trying to get a female racing commentator? Hayley Moore has won the competition beating Rachel Casey in the final. Talk about winning votes based on your name! To be honest they are both pretty rubbish but Moore sounds like she's reading Jackanory to a bunch of kids.

If you want a laugh listen to some of the earlier entries......in particular Janet Menzies and Liz Lutgendorff. The latter doesn't even know the names of the horses......"it's between the light blue rider and the red rider."

Apparently commentating is all about "pitch" and it's just a plain and simple fact that the pitch of a woman's voice isn't as pleasing on the ear as a deeper male voice. Why we have to have a useless female commentator forced upon us I don't know........
