Whilst i understand Liverpool's supposed indignation on the Suarez Saga and the consequent fall-out, i don't particularly accept it. My stance is Suarez very much deserves his ban and the FA are rightly taking a stance on prohibiting cannibalism in the game.
I do however think football gets a raw deal, after all the PM did not pontificate on Rugby professionals being role-models this week, after all Danny Cipriani was in a spot of bother, being blotto, wobbling across the road into a bus and then (mis)using the resources of the sacrosanct NHS .
Now, it seems a Knight of the realm, SAF, empathises. Does he have a point?

Sir Alex Ferguson's empathy for Liverpool

Fergie feeling empathy for Liverpool? The situation is worse than I thought.

Will this put to bed the moral precedent Unitec set, with the Cantona case, that United fans have harped on about?
Will this stop the criticism, from United fans amongst others, of the way the club has handled this, in not giving Luis a club ban?
One thing I hope we can all agree on, regardless of club, is this governing body is not fit got purpose. Every club has been affected, by an unjust or over the top ban, or some sort of wrong decision. Isn't it time all clubs said enough is enough?

As long as there is effectively 2 governing bodies there will be power play politics.
The FA are like the devolved Scottish Parliament, it has some powers but not as much as it wants and the power it does have, it's gonna use!!!

"David Davies [then the FA's spokesman] promised us that, if we did it, there'd be no more action taken"
-------------
So this equates to making a deal with the FA.
Surely now that the 3 jobs in English football are occupied by Man U fans, it should be easier for Ferguson to push through decisions which suit his club if the necessity were to arise
Also, considering Fergie states that he understands that Liverpool feel aggrieved, maybe that will prompt some of their fans to wind their collective necks in, when considering the inconsistent and over the top punishment handed out.

Utd did impose a ban on Cantona themselves.
They were advised by the FA that if you sort out the situation then that would be the end of it.
Utd banned Cantona for 4 mths till the end of the season, the wise owls at the FA then added 5 mths to it 2 days later

Paisley's
I wonder what the reaction would've been if Liverpool said they'll ban Suarez for 6 games on the proviso The FA don't impose a ban themselves?
It's amazing the myths being out to bed of late. We've had;
'The FA took Suarez's previous into account'. The FA report states otherwise
'United banned Cantona internally, Liverpool should do the same'. Fergie states that this was done on the understanding of The FA not imposing a ban.
All very interesting.

Having an agreement before any disciplinary hearing certainly seems odd to me.
