Finally invested in the first Dead Island game and although it is very good on the whole, parts of it really annoy me.
If anybody has played the game before, can you tell me if upon completion of the main story you can play all of the side missions? I've played games before where this hasn't been the case.
After a seemingly innocuous mission about clearing some sewers I've ended up playing much through much more of the story than I intended (up to a gunfight in a supermarket) without the option to go back to free roaming.
Another thing is that why do the other playable characters randomly drop in in some cutscenes? And why do some cutscenes refer to things that haven't actually happened yet? And why do all characters refer to your character as male even if you choose a female character?
It's good to finally find a zombie game that seems to have the right balance of suspense and difficulty, but it feels like it hasn't been proof-read, so to speak.
Anyway, zombies

Good game, good ideas, in some places badly implemented - although i played the game i never finished it but as a rule of thumb after Fallout 3 (i pretty much just done the story quest and ended up seeing only 20% of the game) i do all the side quests before leaving an area. Sorry i cant help, but if you done only a few side missions i would say go back to it in a few weeks.

Agree, there is a great game in there but it seems to be let down by some shoddy programming.

Trying not to give too much away about the game, you will get to a point were you need to get a boat to the prison. Once you go to the prison you can't go back to any other part in the game.
I would suggest going back to previous side missions as soon as possible and completing them before venturing on too much further.

If that is true then it is ridiculous.

Yeah it is quite annoying however if your a trophy hunter the worst but is trying to get to rank 50 as it can take a couple of play throughs.
I've just bought the 2nd one so hopefully there will be less glitches.

Dont hold yopur breath on the hope for less glitches U17771, most reviews are saying that its the same game, including the glicthes and bugs. One reviewer even mentioned that at a point he was tempted to just copy and paste his old review for the original one.

Loved this game! Yeah only problem is once you reach the jail it's locked there. As much as that annoyed me the amount of people with glitched guns that are super powerful and never need ammo is crazy. What's the point in playing if your cheating? It's a crazy hard game though!

Play on the PC - have almost 0 glitches in the 2nd game, the only one i have noticed in close to 5-6hours of game play is sometimes not being able to pick stuff up on the 1st try you need to press the action key several times

Is it true your character is transferable to dead island 2? I'm a level 60 some sick weapons so will be nice to hold onto them!

Your character is transferable however it doesn't transfer your weapons unfortunatly
