Ok not the best result, but at least we are still only 1 point behind the G00ns Chelsea still have a few tough games so top 4 is still a possibility, so not too downbeat
Anyway my post is mainly about Bale. Does anyone else feel Bale should be playing from the left then drifting about as the game progresses, switching back to left as often as he can? Lennon is back and with him on the right, Bale on the left we can do serious damage. Today was another example of Bale lacking as much effect when not playing in his most effective side. People will say, "he scored". Or "he's scoring goals so does it matter". If we win with Bale scoring then great, but Bale is just as capable of getting goals if starting on his natural side, plus he creates from the left too. The rare moment Bale switched to the left today after Lennon came on, we almost scored!
I'm not saying Bale should play his entire game stuck on the flank. But a player of his quality and the effect he brings on the left, he should be playing on that side as much as he drifts about during the game.

You think in this day and age wingers aren't instructed to track back? It's not like loads of teams play really attacking either, they'll spend most of their time behind the ball and then break

There's a difference between sitting behind the ball and breaking, and actively chasing back once your attack breaks down in my book

I still think a lot of players do that nowadays. I'm not undermining what Lennon does, it's great, but I do feel its exaggerated. Just my opinion

Bale isn't so keen in my opinion. I think Lennon is immeasurably better than him in that regard. Vital one of them does if you don't want to be caught

bale's usually looking for something to do in our box against set pieces, and now and again he'll get back to put in a block or a tackle in our box after a break, but he doesn't generally get involved in breaking up play. he's plays much less of a role than lennon when we don't have the ball in that regard.

Benny does not start because he cannot be trusted tactically in away games. Managements words not mine.
He will be sold in the summer without any doubt.
