I half expected it to be like a certain game from yesteryear and it was. Remember Brewers 4 Exeter 4? That game was like that. End to end stuff but quite irrelevant really.
We were atrocious for the first half hour and then scored 2 goals from out of nowhere.
Who was that chap on the left wing? His shirt had 'Phillips' on it and he was absolutely brilliant. An amazing performance. We had a left winger once with that name who was garbage. A selection headache for GR now. That was a superb performance from Jimmy.
I just wish it had been the other winger (Drury) who had played a blinder and booked his place for the next game(s). He played ok and better than the usual right sided player but he probably didn't do enough.
Here is my preferred team for the Bradford away game;
Zola / Kee
Phillips / Macca / Weir / Maghoma
McCrory / Zander / Bob / O'Connor

Only one correct prediction day. That was from Old Brookender, his 3rd of the season. Impressive to get a correct prediction in a 5 goal game. A late bid for that 4th 'Champions League' place?

Woke up with Thursday on mind already. Thinking through my first X1. Opened up JA606 and you've beaten me to it Otep!
Man for man. Come on GR. Must be a sign!

Incidentally I am sure that I heard someone say yesterday that Symes is on £4,000 a week. Did I hear that correctly?

I understand Thursday is on live on SKY, hope this doesn't stop the crowds coming!!
Zola / Kee
Phillips / Macca / Weir / Maghoma
McCrory / Zander / Bob / O'Connor
Tommo
As you suggest Otep that is our best starting 11. Leave
MacDonald and Sharps on the bench and bring on the explosive Paterson if we need a boost.
I heard again yesterday that Symes is on almost £4k a week as well - unbelievable if true coz he's not worth half of that imho.
Wembley is only two games away, come on you Brewers

I hope that it stops the Bantams fans turning up though Burton Boy.
I was rather hoping that the all yellow shirt would be that which we will wear in the future. But it is being described as a 'special play off kit'. Am I alone in not really liking the yellow and black stripes? The limited number of replica shirts seen at home and away games would suggest to me that it is not popular.

I am still amazed by what Jimmy did yesterday. That was an incredible effort.
I like to think that I am fair minded in my assessment of players. When they are rubbish I will say so. When that same player is good, I will say so.
I have been critical of Jimmy in the past and in the main I think rightly so. However, the Jimmy that played yesterday would be one of the first names on my teamsheet - guaranteed.
It's only one game and the right bank might have been a youth kid for all I know. But it was promising and I hope he maintains that form. I don't expect to get promoted and I expect Maghoma to leave. But if we had Jimmy playing like that every week it would be a good replacement.
The snag is Jimmy started with us playing like that a few years ago. I recall him giving Reading a torrid time in the cup and them raving about him. Those performances tailed off.

A lucky guess as regards my prediction of yesterday's score, but I'm glad of the points.
As regards shirt colour Otep when I first started watching the Brewers we played in black and amber and still have fond memories of those far off days. I'd prefer to see a black stripe somewhere in the kit, but agree the present shirt design Isn't the best it could be.
I also agree Jimmy played well yesterday and wondered for a minute or two whether his contract was up for renewal. Then I realised (if I'm right) he still has a year left to go. He did do well though and all credit to him.

Yes maybe the team selection is about right unless we go with Macdonald in midfield for Macca , and Patterson for Kee difficult one , yesterday was watered down by the press saying Allan played relatives and friends ,who cares, we won and finished one win away from automatic promotion . On our day we will score goals for fun and we have the best home record in all four divisions ! Bring on the Bantams , i hope we are good enough to still get to wembley and enjoy the day win or lose .

Only Mansfield the Conference Champions have a similar home record, 17 won, 3 drawn, 3 lost. Thank you stuart44 I hadn't realised our home record was as good as that.

Got to admit I don't think I have ever seen Phillips as good, but it was one match against a 17 year old defender, we need to keep our feet on the ground - I don't believe he is the prodigal son returning to take us Wembley! I don't believe anyone has mentioned Adam Drury who I thought was superb. Ran himself into the ground, chased and harried everything and showed us what a good little player he is.
The strip is lovely! And although I do like the black and yellow stripes, all yellow is just as good.
Think GR has some real snags putting out the right team at Bradford. Glad he rested the likes of Mags, McCrory, Pato and Sharps but think O'Connor and Kee could have done with a break as well.
The 11 that started against Bradford last game were up for it and I thought until the stupid goal and red card we were a real threat. Would we be happy with a one nil loss on Thursday? I hope not, I would rather go out fighting than with a whimper, lets go for it Gary and see where it takes us! Come on you Brewerssssssss!!!

Yes otep the traditional yellow shirt/black shorts is what Burton should always wear! If it was good enough for Mark Whitehouse & Nigel Sims, it's good enough for 2013!!
