A question

In a radio phone in style, regular reader; occansional poster. I wanted to ask a question to what seems to be the majority now, those who think Pearson should go. Just to let you know where I stand on that first, I wasn't keen on Pearson to return, but have been pleasantly suprised this season ( obviously with the exception of the horrific run we have been on) think we have played better football than i thought we would, and to be honest do think we should be higher than we are and have been unlucky/inexpericenced. I still don't think Pearson is my favourite manager for loads of reasons i am not going into and wouldn't have appointed him when he came back, but do think he should stay for another season as the team is young, exciting and potentially an automatic promotion team if things can click, and we can learn from this season also we need to stick with a manger and let the club build. Anyway sorry for the ramble but my question is this. If we sneak into the playoffs ( long shot but I do still have hope and think its is possible) and then go on to win them and get promoted do those who have been calling for Pearsons head think he should go? it seems from what I read most people are saying it is his fault that we have been on this run and are now looking like having another season in the Championship so if we do manage to seek up, should he stay?

I have faith in the owners to make the right decision, since the disaster of appointing Sven they've made excellent decisions since (IMHO ) and if they decide NP has had long enough so be it, if they keep him, so be it.

I must say the unfounded rumours in a trashy newspaper would be completely the wrong decision, for Martin O to come back now could taint the whole image of him at the club if he fails.

LOL

You're right Nev, maybe they should have got rid of him earlier, at least they got there before the Club was completely ruined though.

I agree with True Blue, Sven was a shocking PR appointment driven by Mandaric, chairman at the time. Look at where he is now, not even championship clubs want him anymore....

No he is here in Dubai with me on his way to be the Cameroon coach maybe.

I believe that Sven would have had us up by now.

sven in the premiership might have been fine. i think 20000 people signed a petition to keep him at man city, but foreign owners lost patience. but to be honest he was clueless in the championship for us

The only thing that bothers me in keeping NP, is what happens if we start off with a similiar run to that which we are on now.
Do we then ask him and his staff to leave?

We then find ourself in late October looking for a manager, who will then want to bring in his own players.
We are then back at square one

I just can't see at the moment who you would get in instead. McDermott and Adkins both have new clubs. RDM is unlikely to drop a division. Curbishley doesn't look like he'll come back into management. Lambert looks like he's backed at Villa and MON just doesn't feel likely. So who else is proven at getting teams into the PL?? So unless you go for an up and coming manager like Powell I can't see a stand out candidate that would be better to replace Pearson with?

If by some miracle we got promoted this year I think Pearson should be given the opportunity of managing in the Premiership.
