Watching a few Barca games lately though, I mean his injury aside does he have the same appetite, Are his clubmates as good as was previously thought. .
Doubts have crept into my mind and I was starting to think possibly The Not real Ronaldo had superseded him.

Ronaldo doesn't come close, he's just an immense physical specimen, those players come along quite often. Messi's a total footballer, we'll not see another player like him for 25 years

Messi is a fantastic player granted. Best in the world at the moment. He cannot be compared with players of the past.
Would he still be as great without Xavi and Iniesta who make so much space for him. He doesn't do the same for Argentina.
I would love to see Cryff, Best, Henderson, Johnson play with all the protection afforded to players now and with the surfaces and balls that players have now.
Look at the tackle at 4:00 minutes in this clip. There is not a player around now who would have stayed on his feet and scored.
