There is no doubting that over the past two decades football has changed. But, the question I'd like to ask is, do fans feel it has changed for the better or worse?
For me definitely the worse. Football is about the fans and their football clubs. Not about the media, Sky TV deals and the amount of money being invested into the Football Leagues each year.
It's about the fans, their passion, their pride, the amount of money they invest into their clubs through thick and thin. Unfortunately, this has been ruined by big money owners, who have no heart for the club, but only invest to increase their bank accounts. They do this through, the big sponsorships on show, through the mega TV deal by Sky etc... They eat away at that money, eat away at our money, players are far better off, yet the true people, the fans are always the ones left behind. The fans are the ones, who find it difficult to pay for season tickets, match day tickets, yet there is all this money on show.
I look at someone like Dave Whelan and think if someone like him could be able to run football then it would be a much better place. Unfortunately, that will never happen and unfortunately our beautiful game will continue to get ruined, which only means one thing. More fans being forced away because they have no choice.
Has Football Changed For Better Or Worse?

Exactly, grouping/labelling things isn't necessary but then saying that I think everyone love making lists.

Player goes into the area, he's brought down and is awarded a penalty AND the defender is sent off. For me it's not a sending off just for being the last man, that means he's rewarded twice with the defending team punished twice, the game is as good as dead then

If a player doesn't get sent off for being the last man, it would open up a whole world of trouble.

football imo is a lot worse. the game is more enjoyable to watch with players being fitter and the game being faster etc but morally worse than it was comapred to the 70s and 80s. football managers get sacked after only a few bad results. chelsea sacking title winning managers due to not winning the european cup. mancini's job being talked about being on the line when they could finish 2nd and win the fa cup. short memories

even watching Brazil has lost its old magic...
-----------------------------
Has the internet not stifled this excitement.
I too thought something similar, but maybe it's not that Brazil have lost their magic, but we are seeing more of it from non-Brazilians on things Youtube etc.
Also more coverage of International football means the World Cup is not the only option to watch Argentina, Brazil, Germany, Holland, Italy etc.

I am slowly getting tired of football!
Every weekend we see great skill, great goals, great saves, and exciting moments!
Yet, all I read or hear about after the games is who said what to who, which tackle was worst, what did the crowd sing, who was abused, who felt abused etc etc..
Football used to be enjoyable, it used to be about goals and skill and saves, now it is all about who is offended, who is the worst offender, what is the newest offended bandwagon to jump on, it is not enjoyable anymore cos too many people are too offended by stuff that takes away from the actual football that has been played!
We have become soft as a nation, we find offense in every little incident and as such the game itself has become a sideshow, that is sad!

I have mixed feelings about football, I miss being able to afford to go to games but I like that I can watch my team every week.
So better or worse? Neither, just different.

To be fair to Citys owners they have decreased ticket prices since they took over, players wages have forced the clubs to increase prices and flog merchendise on order to keep up with player demands, their should have been a worldwide salary cap introduced about 20 years ago to stop it from going insane.
International football is garbage now, the last entertaining WC was France '98, everything since then has been dour, negative football, teams playing more defensive midfielders than strikers. The Euros tends to be a good tournament though.
Also, allowing people from other countries to manage or play for a nation when they have no blood links to that country devalues the purpose of the International game if you can pick and chose like that.
I also think that if players choose to retire from International football then that should be that, not deciding to retire then come back a year later.
They're are plenty of good things about football now, the standard is higher, there's more coverage of english football and leagues from all over the world, you talk directly to players, managers via social media which gives an insight into what they're really like as a person.
